can't reimport images

Let's say you import some images into a catalog using import catalog command.

Next, you delete the folder into which you imported those images.

Quit C1.

Start C1.

Now, try to import again.

You can't.

I think I can guess why. In the recent imports collections, there is an import collection that refers to those files EVEN THOUGH THE FILES ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE CATALOG. Because of this, the attempt to import again fails--C1 erroneously assumes you have them.

Two solutions:

- C1 has yet another file management bug that must be fixed.
- We need to purge old import collections. But, there is no way to do this.

C1 has many gotchas because it's complex concepts are not implemented with proper understanding of side effects. And the matrix of test cases (if it exists at all) just doesn't consider all cases and their side effects.

  I mis-diagnosed this problem. The symptom was not being able to import a catalog containing images I had previously imported and deleted (via a session).
  
  The problem which I report in another post is that this catalog (and all of its folders and images) had been copied to my machine from an external drive. That is what caused the problem. It has nothing to do with the fact the images had once been imported.
