Before CP1 Suggestions
For us, after a shoot of about 1500-2000 images, we need to purge out the unwanted images. If we go right into CP1, it wants to cache everything first, which is just a waste of time. We were thinking that a program like Expression, Photo Mechanic, Bridge, Bibble, or something similar may allow for faster editing before bringing it into CP1 for caching. What programs do you use? Expression seems to work just fine, but not sure if there were any drawbacks.

Photo Mechanic. I use it for import from card and renaming, adding IPTC metadata.
In general I do not have such amounts of image as you have, more in the 100-200 area at most. I noticed that a faster machine (I have a Windows quad core with SSD drives while my Mac is a almost 4 years old so less snappy) makes it a snap to browse through that amount of images with CO5 even while it is creating proxies. For larger amounts of images I would use Photo Mechanic for a preselection.0 -
I think if you're looking to edit prior to accessing the images in Capture One, Expression Media really is your best bet.
With the integration that is available at present it is certainly a workable solution. Considering the integration is only going to improve, in my opinion using Expression Media and familiarizing yourself with it's workflow is a worthwhile investment.0
