Straightened images have strange artifacts when processed

Images that have been straightened/slightly rotated have strange artifacts on the edges after processing. Below is a 100% view of the upper right edge of one of those images (look at the right side of the image...):

This happens on Mac OS X 10.5.1 as well as 10.4.11 (both PPC). It happened to files from a Nikon D100 and D200 as well as DNG files. It can't be seen in the preview in Capture One 4, it only appears in processed images (Tiff as well as Jpeg).
