Import of photos extremely slow
I am trying to import from a camera SD card 16 (!) photos. The import takes "about 13 minutes left..."! What's wrong here? I have C1 version 9.1, a state-of-the-art top speed Macbook Pro (16GB memory) with a 1TB SSD with more than 250 GB free space left. I also have the latest Mac OS 10.11.4. I have a large library - 22'000 images, but was told that C1 should easily deal with such a library. But starting C1 with this library, and moving around in the user collections section takes excessive time.

I've had issues where importing and generating previews at the same time makes it process slower than if they were to happen sequentially, though it's worse with smaller preview sizes (haven't gotten a satisfactory resolution to this one). So maybe see what happens if after you start the import, switch to a different project/library/album/whatever and see if the import speeds up, because it won't be generating previews at the same time. Alternatively, try copying the files to a folder on your Desktop from the SD card first, then import into C1 and see how that works. 0 -
It's not the slow SD card - I believe it is simply the size of the main C1 library. When I do not open my main library but just an empty test library, the import runs smoothly. It looks as if C1 9.1 simply can't deal with a large library. 0 -
Its a rainy Sunday morning so I figured I'd do some computer housekeeping.
I have a catch-all session I call Default Session. Anyway I went in, key-wording and culling.
Afterwards I then opened the C1 Catalog. I then imported all the files from the session Capture folder.
It was about 300+ images. Its really really slow. My drives are all SSD so yeah, its a C1 issue.0 -
I ran into this yesterday. Importing 400 images took 4x longer than normal (approx). I waited and let it finish and all seemed fine afterwards. I have about 80k images in my catalog but didn't notice this slower import a week ago prior to the last update. 0 -
I work with sessions on NAS and converting a job with apx. 1.600 files from a Canon 5D Mk III took over 24 hrs and caused several time a freeze. Now I am back on 9.0.3 and happy again... 0
