ICC profiles for 5DS
I know support for the 5DS is "preliminary" and I am waiting patiently. Does anyone have any idea when it might be finalized?
Until then I will continue to use the older 1DS Mark 3 profile for my portraits and use generic 5DS for everything else.

There's no official timeframe, and it's not the habit of the development team (for phase one, or any software developer really) to promise a date like this unless it's already done. It shouldn't be too terribly long, but it largely depends on canon updating their SDK, so the PhaseOne team can't control that.
Having said that you can create your own ICC profiles using Capture One if you like - or use a tool like RoughProfiler (though it's a bit time consuming).0 -

Preliminary, in most cases, is likely to mean that a production body or two has not yet been tested and the existing profile is based on pre-production and sample files to at least get something out there.
The obvious missing components, for Canons, are usually mRaw and sRaw, which typically follow later and Full C1 controlled Tethering which requires an appropriate SDK update from Canon (usually an initial release of that by Canon at the time the camera starts shipping) and then some integration work. That may take a while to complete and test suitably in the field before general release.
Other factors may also influence when a suitable date for a release can be set - operating system updates and so on that are outside the developer's direct control.
In the case of the RAW images I take form your comment that you have found aspects of the the colour rendition currently provided to be not as you would like it?
If so I would suggest that you register this with Capture One Support using a Support Case so that the developers can get some well considered user feedback - which is one way you might be able to usefully influence any future adjustment beyond "preliminary" - or at least get some feedback about how to adjust things to make the preferred settings your own.
Or you could just create and save your own preferred settings for portrait work anyway since that might be, overall, a very personal choice anyway.
HTH.

Yes, all responses have been helpful. Thank you all.
Not sure I want to go to the support case. See other users on this forum and other forums commenting on the green and Orange casts.
I'm sure Phase One will come out with a nice starting point profile shortly after Canon gets their act together. The base profiles are really good once they are finalized.
Just waiting patiently. 😊0 -
Well, see what 8.3.2 offers as a first step. There might be some changes?
But really if there is some aspect you are not totally convinced about for the profiles do let Phase know through a Support Case. That's how they monitor and manage what we might think of as "engaged" feedback and is where they can ask for examples and comparisons that we feel offer areas for improvement.
It's a great opportunity to engage and influence - or at least have some potential for such things and I think it is reasonable to assume that Phase welcome carefully considered, explained and illustrated examples. It gives them something "real" to work with. Something that can be in short supply in the early days of availability of a new camera.

We are aware of the issue, hence the preliminary status of the implementation.0 -
I am just wondering if the issue getting the right ICC as any implication with the rumored FCA being different from previous Canon model
Thanks

Hi
May I take these exchanges as typical of the way the C1 Forums are going. P1 staff are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
To explain: There is a fine line between using a Forum to raise interest in and to seek general advice on a problem (sorry - the modern word is "issue") from fellow C1 users on the one hand, and submitting a Support Request to P1 HQ via the Case route. Either way, there are pros and cons. Forum exchanges are transparent, in the open, warts and all, but they do not routinely prompt a P1 response. In contrast Support Cases are like black holes - information goes in from one source but no light comes out for a more open discussion, and there is little incentive to actually raise a Support Request as long as the Forum threads give an appearance of knowledgeable progress.
But how effective are C1 Forums in their present format? Would it make sense to encourage all initiating Forum posts to also be submitted to P1 as Support Requests for professional attention, and copied verbatim to the Forum as part of the first post? I suggest this would give a more structured framework to the C1 Forums than we are seeing at present. And a more efficient way for P1 to keep on top of feedback from quasi beta-testers with their "real world" use of C1.
Please note that I am not knocking Forum contributions in general or in particular. I am questioning whether the P1-C1 forum system is actually working as well as it could do.

The ICC and the green tinting are unrelated.0
