.mov files: many options not working
I have some .mov files in my library.
I don't know why, but they have a green color tag. I assume that this comes from Aperture, which I abandoned last year.
I cannot change the color tag, I cannot change the rating, and when I want to play the film, I see only the progress button wandering, but the film does not show.
The most annoying thing for me is currently the one with the color tag.
Any Ideas?

The behaviour of not being able to change anything about a file is the behaviour Capture One has for unsupported files. For example, I have seen this with JPEGS that are too small (less than 500 pixels in one dimension)
I have removed all my video files from Capture One.
I did a quick search for Capture One 10 supported file formats but didn't find anything.
I see that Capture One 10 will import mov files and avi files, but not mpg files. If I right click the icon, I can select "Play with Finder" and they will play in a new window.
As you have noted, you can't change the rating or the color tag.
Phase One is a stills oriented company and they are struggling to close all the issues related to catalogs. I think it's a good decision on their part not to extend the video feature set at this time.0 -
I just posted a sort of rant about this inability to rate or color-tag smaller images or video's. I can understand to some extent (actually, no, I can't understand it) why video's cannot be rated, but images? What's holding them back?
And adjusting the date is something that really belongs in a DAM; how many of us have forgotten to adjust the clock for DST, or get images from different camera's? The argument of 'they don't want to change the original file' is BS; there's a database to store such metadata, or even XMP files if needed. No need to change a single bit in the original file.
Sorry for the rant. Reading this forum isn't really helping!
Cheers,

Especially so when one is travelling and changes time zones. Some change thier cameras to match the time zone, others intentionally or by accident do not.
Sometimes people set it wrong, and sometimes the camera dows something unexpecyed like recodring the home timezone.
It's unfortunate because Capture One is a promising product and one wants to support a new vendor that is focussed on Photography.
But they will not grow if they cannot compete.0 -

New? AFAIK Capture One (formerly called Lightphase) has been around longer than Lightroom.0 -

Thanks for the history, this I did not know.
Perhaps the question of Adobe Photoshop being first or Lightphase being first is academic.
More to the point is that Adobe is now the biggest vendor by far, and our community would benefit from another vendor providing a competitive product.0
