Disapering pictures in Albums..?

I would suspect the session file to be less healthy. If you have Pro or DB, create a new session and try again (with same images if you like). If you have CO5 (regular), close CO5, remove Capture One.col50 from Capture One Library folder and start CO5 again.
Note that you will loose all session information like Albums so you might want to save it for backup.

    Hi Paul!
Tryed your sugestions but the result is the same... the album is emty on restart..?!
It can be relatet to some problems I have in XP it self (?) but I will try to reinstall the CO and make a registry sweep
att the same time to be sure.
    Cross yor thumbs!

Per, my next guess would be a Windows permission issue. Like you are able to create or delete but not change a file. If you are not working with administrative privileges (as you should), try when you temporarily are.
Have you perhaps redirected your Pictures folder?

    Hi again Paul!
Tryed your permission tip but with no luck..!
BUT i found out something odd... when the session file is on the same drive as the CO programfiles C:
the session album works, even with files on other drive units E:, F: etc, but when the session file is on another drive
(I: as my storage raid drive in my computer) the album files dissaper (..?!.) There must be a bug someware in the program when you cant create albums on drives other then C:! I don´t think anybody stores thousands of raw files on the master drive... I don´t!
I´ll think this problem has to be a support case.

I don't use multiple "sessions," just the default file which is stored on my C: drive, but all of my raw files, settings, and conversions are on secondary or even external hard drives. CO support has told me this is not recommended, but it works for me.

I have directed (= Windows feature) my Pictures folder to drive D:, hence the default Capture One Library session is there too. No problems so far but I will try and experiment with Albums later when I am back home.

I'd put my money on the RAID.
If you create a new session on your local drive and move images From the Local Drive in Location A to the new Session Folder (location B), do the images stay there when you restart the program?
If yes, then Paul was on the right path suspecting a permissions issue but it's complicated by the use of a RAID.

    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any updated info on the disappearing album images issue?

This issue really does seem to be dragging on and there doesn't seem to be a definitive solution yet. I am not what you might call a power user and have just recently come back to it after trying DxO and one or two other alternatives.

It really is a shame that an otherwise excellent piece of software should be let down by what I am sure must be a fairly fundamental problem. I've trie RAID, Non-RAID, permissions, AV & firewall settings. Even a newly installed OS. In fact everything short of going MAC 😭 and the problem appears quite random accross the board.

Come on Phase One, lets have a solution before the opposition starts to capitalise on it. I really do like your software and want to continue using it.

    Regards

    Hi Neil!
The problem disapered for me with the upgrade to the5.2 release, but not with out some problems to begin with...!
As Paul mentioned earlier in this thred,it is advisable to delete the old session files XX.col50
and close the program when you are in an album!
That worked for me and my albums is keeping its contence on all my Raid drives and my DROBO.
    Wish you good luck!

    Hi Per,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am using release v5.2. I have used CO on and off ever since I got the freebie v3.?? something or other with some flash memory some years ago now.

Anyway, because I have been 'Playing' with DxO (Sorry Chaps 🤭 ) for a couple of months I uninstalled my CO v5.1?? and totally stripped out all the CaptureOne folders and Session folders including all the *.col50 files. When I downloaded and re-installed CO as v5.2 all these folders and files were (as expected) re created. I have subseqently re-created sessions on all drives and partitions on my PC with the inevitable results.

The one thing that I have not tested is closing CO whilst still in an album, so I'll be trying that through the rest of today. One question though; If you have more than one Album in a Session, does the Album that you are not in also survive?

What you say is clearly a good workaround but surely, Phase One should be able to fix this. After all, it is billed as a program feature.

    Many Thanks
    NK

    Hi again Neil!

Yes! After I played around with all tips and trix I got from users and PO support I closed the program when I was in an album , I could notice that the program took a longer time to shut down ( like it was thinking a lot..)
after that everything worked ok and all my albums hold their files! I have up to 10 albums in sertain sessions!
