Mask precisely in Capture One Pro

Hi everyone,

I've been trying Capture One Pro 8 to replace Aperture 3. In Aperture (and Lightroom also), I can draw a mask precisely with edge detecting technology of each software. In Capture One, I don't see the same feature. My question is does Capture One have precise brush feature and how can I use it?

  Edge detection isn't one of C1's strong points.Lightroom is much better in this regard.
  Make sure it is turned on though. If you right click within the brush there should be a check box for edge detection.(Auto Mask)

  I do see that check box but it seems doesn't work. It won't work at all with jpeg images. With raw images, I don't see it detect the edges.

  The Auto Mask doesn't work very well. It cannot discriminate between the colors and edges very well. I have no idea how Apple did it in Aperture but I agree with you that Aperture's masking and feathering functions worked very, very well.
  
  I use a brush with a hardness of 70 and this seems to work well. Vary the size depending on what you are masking. Sometimes I bleed over on purpose and then erase the excess.
  
  I am using a Huion display tablet which also helps enormously.

  I rather like the soft edge of the default brush! However, when precise masking is needed I call Affinity Photo as external editor.
  
  I do have one query about the C1 version however: if I go back to an image where I have used it and want to add a different effect via the mask, the original masked area is selected too - how do I prevent that?
