The short answer is to file a support case.

But, to make sure, you are on the latest versions of both CO7 and MP? 7.1.2 and 1.4.1.67972 respectively.

But, if you've set all the settings like described in the video, i'm at a loss.

Perhaps you can share all the individual settings you think influence the integration. Maybe others here can help you.

All i can say is that it works for me 😉

When I right click in media pro and ask a file to be opened with Capture One, I get switched to Capture One and a blank standard import dialog box opens, but with no reference to the file I asked to be opened.

I have just bought both these programs and I think I have set everything up as per the videos to integrate them, but I assume this isn't how this is meant to work.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.
    ..

I do this all the time.
First, start with CO in a session. I have been just using monthly sessions.
Then, in MP, right click and open in CO.
You should be asked two questions:
    1. Do you want to overwrite existing metadata. I generally answer yes, as I use MP to keyword my photos.
    2. Then you will be asked "place images in albums that match the catalog sets specified".
I answer yes. Then, in the Library tab, and Session albums, select the "not in catalog set". Your photo will appear there.

Personally, I like this. You only get the photos there that you have asked for. This speeds up CO. You can then rename this folder and refer to it later under your session.

Thank you both, I have the latest versions installed, but the secret seemed to be creating a session, and shutting the catalogue down. I am still not getting the dialog boxes I expect, but I will rewatch the videos with a different eye and see if I can sort out what is going on.

If I also have a catalogue open the image is sent to the catalogue by default, and I am only being asked about overwriting XMP information, nothing about locations. But I feel on the right road

Jim, how you describe using sessions is exactly how I want to do it, but I had ignored sessions, being more used to the idea of Catalogues, leaving them until I got more used to the program. But I did think that eventually sessions would be a good way of working. This is looking very good at the moment.

I got here prematurely, because I can't import images into a catalogue without CO crashing. I can import them in batches of less than 50, but more than that and CO quits. I have a support ticket in about this one.

    Thanks again,

    Graham

I have that too, but usually with about max ~250/300 images. More than that and CO crashes, or takes so long it isn't worth it (i haven't seen it finish yet for ~700 images, even after leaving it overnight). So, i split up my collection (catalog set usually) into batches of 250 and i'm fine.

Technical support suggested a clean install with the latest version, which I did. However, I have changed to using sessions and have left the cataloguing to Media Pro and Lightroom.

    Cheers,

    Graham
