If Explorer is connecting to the CF Card then the camera is communicating to your computer over the USB as a PTP. You need to remove the CF card so the camera can connect over USB to the proper drivers in the Nikon Software (within Capture One).

Right now you've made your D800 a Card Reader. Remove the CF card so that it's working as a tethered capture camera.

    Hi Drew,

No matter what I do, Windows now sees the camera as a storage device. I have taken the card out of the camera, rebooted the system, and reinstalled CO7. In every case, the CO7 Nikon drivers are not available. I will look into the camera manual to see if I can switch from PTP mode to a USB mode, but the system worked flawless before. Is there anything I can do to invoke the CO7 drivers to see the D800?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but their is not as there are no Capture One 7 drivers at play here.
The system is using the USB drivers and the Nikon Software (within CO7) is controlling access to it's own camera.

So, you're saying I can't fix this issue? I will uninstall and reinstall the software and see if that works.

No, not at all. I'm simply saying that perhaps you should speak with Nikon to remedy this.
You're welcome to create a support case with us and we'd be happy to look into it but as far as assistance I can offer in generalities on the forum, this being the extent.

As a follow up, I completely uninstalled CO7 7.16 and reinstalled it with no success. Then I uninstalled it again and reinstalled 7.15 and it worked! I could see the camera in the Camera Tab. Then I upgraded 7.15 to 7.16 and again I could see the camera. Not sure what happened or how I got it back, but it's here again. I will have to use it all day sometime this week and I'll report back if I encounter an issue.

If this issue rears its head again, I will create a support ticket to review this matter. I thought I'd post it hear because I thought the fix was a simple one. In the end performing some software voodoo magic worked.

Glad to hear you found a solution, however an uninstall/reinstall of an older version wouldn't change anything with regard to the tethering of the D800. As far as 7.1.5 and 7.1.6 are concerned the integration for this camera is identical.
