You can make a custom tool tab with just the tool of your choice and save your personal workspace.

Add a floating tool and position it where you like.

    Hide the the Tools window.

It would be great to be able to switch workspaces with a keyboard shortcut...

I'm not entirely sure that workspace switching by hot key is relevant to the original question nor very realistic given how mant workspaces one might have and, in the overall context of keyboard limitations, how many hot keys might be possible across all functions.

However, with a bit of smart Workspace naming and when using Windows is is conceptually possible to change Workspaces uisng the Windows Menu shortcut support.

Is it safe to assume that Mac's have something similar?

There are keyboard shortcuts for 16 tabs? (not workspaces 😉 )

Go to keyboard shortcuts / View / Select Tool Tab

Maybe you can create a set of tabs, select / config the tools you need and use the shortcut to get there fast?

Tabs yes, but unless the OP is prepared to use all 16 tabs for a single tool the "solo" option would not be satisfied.

Realistically it may be better to consider whether the LR "solo" option is an answer to a problem that LR has but C1 does not - at least not directly.

There comes a time "new" - or sometimes just "different" - may need to be embraced in order to find any benefits.

.... That is why I gave the tabs as an alternative.
We don't know if it's gonna help if we keep it from him, do we?

Ah, I completely missed part where you mentioned that the suggestion was an alternative.

Thanks everyone. I guess the answer is no. In response to the suggestion that the "solo" mode is a solution to a problem that LR has but C1 doesn't, it's not really a significant "problem," but both have it. Desktop clutter.

I have seen videos where people working with C1 have done so almost entirely with keyboard short cuts and minimal screen clutter from anything else. Maybe one small custom tab with a very small selection of tools used for specific steps in the process.

That approach is not for me simply because I have never found it easy to work with many shortcuts on a keyboard. Some can, others can't - which is why graphical menus were invented.

But it does seem to be quite possible for many and very much preferred by some.

One other option that may work for you in some situations is to drag the tool you want to use out of the tools window and then hide the tools window leaving the chosen tool (or tools) linked or each stand alone, on screen. When done simply unhide the tools window and pop the tools back into it. This could work especially well if you first create a custom tool tab with all the tools you most regularly use.

    HTH.

Sparknis a great option for MAC, I’ve used it for years and you can combine shortcuts in there to accomplish that type of workflow. Takes some tinkering and uniformity in conjunction with the cap1 keyboard shortcuts. Super intuitive and you can take advantage off a lot of the keyboard customization cap1 offers after changing some stuff around.

To answer your question: NO! CO doesn't have this nice feature. All workarounds given here are just a crook! Image quality of CO is superb. But workflow is just awefull...

It's probably partly a matter of what you are used to. I have only really used Capture One for years, so my frustration if I try something like Lightroom is that it isn't like Capture One!

I'm not convinced about using a tool in "solo" mode as you call it. For instance, if I adjust Levels, I like to be able to keep an eye on the histogram as I do so.
