Histogram bit depth

Hi. Is it right that in-camera histogram is 8-bit, and Capture One histogram is 8 bit as well? So how should I see clipping for 14 bit RAWs? Clipping at 255 (or 0) is valid only in case when I'm going to edit/export to 8 bit image. But does it really show correct state for 14 bit RAW/16bit PNG ? 🙄

  I believe that histogram shows what the image is made up from. If you take an 8bit image and do some heavy editing to it, you'll see gaps appear in the the histogram, where the information is missing compared to editing a 16bit image, where the histogram will still be a smooth transition throughout.
