    Hi,
This is odd as Capture One was offered, in the box, as a product to work with the new camera.

Seems to just be a bit of communication issue.
We will support it but new camera support requires software updates and the MkII will be available as supported in the next update. The camera was simply released by Sony between Capture One releases.

btw, as Sony now officially suggests C1 Sony Edition as the raw converter to download and use on their official support website are we to expect the proper sync between at least Sony Editions of C1 and Sony camera releases ? what P1 has to say about this ?

    I don't know.
Sony recommends our software and we support their cameras but I don't know about syncing releases.

You can now find Sony A7 M2 support in Capture One 8.1. Support includes tethering and live view according to the release notes.

I am personally very happy about the link up with Sony. In the past it has taken weeks and sometimes months for non Sony software to support their RAW files. To have the support within a week of the camera's release is a great improvement. Hopefully that means Sony finally realized not many serious photographers liked their RAW conversion software. Light room did have the converter for the new ARW file three days before Capture One - but that seems trivial to me.
I believe the Capture One RAW engine is significantly better then Adobe's.
I have been happy with Aperture for most things for some time, but used Capture One to do the final processing for my select images. As Capture One has improved its library management it is looking a lot like a good Aperture replacement. Certainly it is more straight forward than Light Room or so it seems to me.

    Hey Peter,

I've got a MK1 Sony A7. Been eyeing that MK2. Is it worth upgrading? Is the AF much better/faster at all?

I have the MKII, I moved from the Fuji X-T1. I initially bought the Fuji over the A7R as I didn't like the A7R ergonomics or handling speed. The A7II is way better in both respects (from memory 6 months ago).

I use primarily Lightroom but also have CO v7. I'm trialling v8 now and I'm thinking I may pay for the upgrade. I wasn't going to bother with the Fuji system due to the X-Trans limitations but with the A7II I think I will. The catalog seems to be more stable and a bit faster in v8 too. I think Phase did a lot of work under the covers in v8 and have finally sorted out some of the problems.

I'm just hoping they keep up that direction and fix all the little bugs and glitches and don't introduce more with each release 😉
