White balance Olympus E3 far, far off.
Recently I've stopped using Capture One, which I still consider the top Raw-converter when it comes to image quality.
The reason for this, and consequently turning back to the photoshop camera raw plug-in, is the very poor white balance reading/color rendering by Capture One of the Olympus E3 camera-files. Outdoor photos are rendered reasonably to very good, but indoor photo's taken without flash, (using a f2 lens), all have a dominant yellow color cast, which is difficult to correct. Simply moving the main (color temperature) slider to the left, leaves you with bleak and still brownish photos. You simply lose all vibrancy in the colors.
That this is not due to the E3 camera, is proven by the photoshop camera raw output, which dóes get the colors right on indoor photos without flash, without the ugly yellow color cast and with color-vibrancy, all at default settings already.
Unfortunately, in other ways photoshop does not approach the sheer image quality of Capture One, even though the conversion in CO4 to a Tiff file causes a complex darkening when printing from photoshop (which should be discussed in another topic), a darkening that does nót occur when working in photoshop with the PSD-file type, after converting in camera raw.
In other words: I in fact want to use CO4, but cannot properly correct the mentioned yellowish color cast (nor wánt to given the time it takes me).
Is it not possible for Phase One to implement Olympus E3 file reading in CO4, in a better way?
Any similar experiences with E3 users?
regards
Chris

I am seeing the same yellow colour cast with my E-30. This seems to have started with version 4.8 0 -
Yes, I am seeing a yellow cast in some shots. Having just purchased Capture one due to colour cast issues with my previous RAW converter I used it in anger for the first time today. Having shot RAW + Jpg many of the shots I took looked slightly yellow when converted compared with the Jpgs from the camera. This is a little disappointing as when trialling Capture one outputs were very close to Olympus Master.

I have just noticed changing the curve from Film Standard to Film Extra shadow appears to solve the problem in my case.0
