C1 Pro 5.0.1 works better in 10.5.8 ? crash in 10.6 ?
Hi, just bought a new iMac running 10.6 but my dealer told me C1 Pro 5.0 works better in 10.5.8 so do I need to down grade my iMac to 10.5.8? I'm using P30+, Thanks.

Although I still work on 10.5.8 I did not get the impression that CO5 runs better or worse on 10.6. I think you should ask your dealer a clear motivation for his statement. Note that 10.6.x itself is improving on stability every day. I am not sure but downgrading a newer Mac to an older OS X version does work (newer hardware is in general not supported by older OS X). 0 -
No, C1 runs just fine on 10.6. There's no reason to downgrade to 10.5.x. 0 -
Benwahng,
Capture One 4.8.0 runs better in 10.5.8 than 10.6 because 4.8.0 is not intentionally supported in Snow Leopard. Perhaps this is what the dealer was referring to? Any version 4.8.2 to the current 5.0.2 is built for Snow Leopard and runs just fine in 10.6. If you are running Capture One 5 and Snow Leopard then you should run 5.0.2.0 -
I have recently upgraded to 10.6, and I have not had any new problems with C1-5.

I have experienced repeated crashes of Capture One 5.02 under Snow Leopard. Initially I thought it was because I had just 2GB RAM on my 17" Macbook Pro and trying to open some 427 5DII RAW files. When I reduced the load to 150-175 files, the software worked fine. However in the last new session with just 75 files, the program started crashing. This was not resolved by repairing permissions, discarding Capture one session folders and starting afresh.
So the original idea that C1 was RAM limited, was obviously not the entire answer. Any ideas as to why the program be crashing?

Asher,
More than likely you have a Corrupt RAW file somewhere in the mix that, once Capture One tries to read it, the software crashes. Find that file and you'll keep things stable.0 -

Thanks Drew,
I'll clean up the preferences and then divide up the remaining 75 files into small groups and see if that works.
Thanks

I have the latest C1 Pro 5 and it crashes every single time within about a minute I launched it on my MBP running Snow Leopard. I've submitted the the crash-report almost every time but hadn't heard back from anyone. Is there anyone I can talk to? 0 -

Hi Leo,
Capture One leaves folders in the directory where your files are stored. dump them and use Step # 5 in this article to remove your preferences. They will be rebuilt when you open a new session.
http://xchange.phaseone.com/content/sup ... nguageid=1 They will rebuild on launching C1 again.
Naming conventions of your files or folders have some charaters that arent supported in thr OS, like . / or &"
I found that when I reduced the number of RAW files from ~427 to 150-175 the crashes stopped. However then the crashes started all over again with the last 75.
I finally gave up on those last files even though they all were opened easily with Canon Professional Software.
So that's a mystery.
Until this point all the files I was working with were already loaded into the Powerbook Pro hard drive. Now I loaded a fresh set of RAW files from an 8GB CF card and to my surprise, no crashing! The files were loaded in the Capture folder and Çapture One had no issue dealing with 418 files, i.e. 209 RAW and 209 Large JPG files, all in one go.
So, are you having crashes when you load files into Capture One that are already in a HD directory or is it when you draw in the cards from a CF card?
