Rotation tool crash
Hi,
We use C1 Pro on G5 power pc towers tethered to P25 backs.
We have a problem that when we use the rotation tool, the software slows and we get the beach-ball of death... After a long while the software may right it's self, sometimes! But mostly we have to quit the software, open the activity monitor and quit the crash reporter, then reboot the software. This may happen 20 times a day, or not at all. Super annoying... Any suggestions, help advice...
Cheers

Some more technical info would be great...
- OS X version, C1 Pro version, P25 Firmware version, FW cable length...
- Are you a kind of poweruser who think his G5 can handle tons of running apps while shooting?
is the problem occuring while shooting?
Cheers mate!0 -
Dual G5 2.7ghz
OSX 10.4.6
C1 Pro 3.7.4 (same results with 3.7.3)
Firmware 3.3.4
4 metre Firewire cable
Not many apps running... same results with only C1 pro running and all networks disabled or unplugged. Plenty of ram (4.5GB)
Shooting is slower with the beach-ball active, but it is least affected. It's really the rest of the controls that suffer the slowdown. It's really strange how it is so erratic the way it will show up some days, and others it will be fine.
Thanx for your interest in helping....
Cheers

Sync Conduit... For what I know about them, they are used by applications to sync attached devices (palm......)
the machine that I use to shoot, only has basic applications on it... C1Pro, Photoshop, Toast, Transmit and StuffIt...
If you have the time, I would try a clean install of OS X then install C1Pro and test.
Also, I use SPOTLESS to disable SPOTLIGHT, spotlight is always running in the background trying to index all files on the HDD, it can be quite a ressources hug when shooting and adding thousands on pictures and moving them around.
I try to keep my shooting maching very clean, every 3 months I will reformat the HDD and perform a clean install of all my required software.
Good luck0 -
