shooting tethered over a small network

i recently worked on a 2 day shoot where i connected via ethernet my new macbook to my G5, shot tethered to g5 with a p25 then processed some of the files on the macbook (which is faster the g5) all i did was copy the session from g5 to macbook drop the capture and processed folders into the file window and process.

so the raws remained on the g5 and the macbook was writing the processed files back to the folder on the g5.

this seemed to work quite well and stopped the g5 from slowing down the preview speed when processing in the background, i still processed some of the raws on the g5 to save time at the end of the day so both machines were writing to the capture folder at the same time.

is this a good way of working? has anyone had any problems working in this way?
the only problem i had was trying to connect to server when processing, resulting in the spinning beachball and had to restart the G5

  You don't need to copy the session. You can open the same session on both computers. The only issue is that the thumbnails window doesn't automatically refresh. The only way that I know of to get the thumbnails to update is to click on a different folder and then go back to the capture folder. It's a little bit of a pain, but less so than copying the whole session.
