Can you move v3 Captures into a v5 Session?
Can you merge C1Pro v3 RAW Captures into the v5 Session Capture Folder?
I know the Image Settings would not work, but wouldn't C1Pro v5 read the v3 RAW Captures ok?
I'm interested because we have three Capture One Stations:
#1.) Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5 with C1 Pro v3.7.9 (I can't run C1Pro v5 on the PPC G5)
#2.) Intel iMac 24" with C1Pro v5.1.1
#3.) Intel iMac 27" with C1Pro v5.1.1
Stations #1 & #2 are Shooting Capture Stations and #3 is the Retouching Station.
How can I merge all Sessions into one Session on a Retouching Station?

RAW Captures are RAW Captures, completely separate from software they are generated by the camera in question. If you check the release notes of Capture One 5 you can see if the files are supported. Odds are if they were in Capture One 3 they are in Capture One 5. 0 -
So, Drew, you work at Phase One and you still don't know? I know RAWs are RAWs. What about converting the Image Settings files associated with the RAWs?
There's a lot of loyal followers with legacy v3 Session images that are tagged, color adjusted, cropped, etc. that would be nice to support in v5.
Do your code techs have a work around to convert those v3 files to import into v5 with all the settings intact?0 -

Well, I do know... I was just trying to teach a man to fish.
Since the RAW files are RAW files then yes, Capture One will read them. The settings however are not compatible as you already knew. Which leaves us with the session files themselves, which are also not compatible between the versions.0 -
With all due respect to you and this process, I'm still fishing . . . had a few nibbles, yet haven't caught any thing to bring in the boat. But I think I know the answer.
SInce we want to end up with a complete integrated v5 Session, we want to end up with a v5 .col50 Session file. AND since we both know that RAW files are, well, RAW files. AND we can pretty well understand that a .plist is not the same as a .cos file. May I again ask the questions we DON'T have answers for?
Let me go back to the first time I asked a question:
How can I merge all Sessions into one Session on a Retouching Station?
Now my second and last question, since they're pretty much the same AND since there were no answers for the first one:
What about converting the Image Settings files associated with the RAWs?

Look 3.7 is dead so are PPC based computers. Get a iMac to replace the G5 and run V5 on all your systems. 0 -
YOU ARE NOT LISTENING!
All of the Intel machines have v5 installed on them.
We have 1 Intel Quad Core Mac Pro; 1 - 24" Intel iMac; 2 - 27" Intel iMacs and 1 Dual Core PPC G5.
* That G5 served us well for many years doing Capture One Pro Sessions, hence we have hundreds of Capture Sessions created with C1 Pro v3. I would prefer to open them in v5 going forward, so:
I AM LOOKING FOR A CONVERSION TOOL TO CONVERT V3 IMAGE SETTINGS TO V5 SESSION IMAGE SETTINGS - GET IT!!????
I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS ALL THROUGH THESE POSTS, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER THIS DIRECTLY.0 -
I derive three main questions from this thread.
1. Can I open a raw file that I captured with CO3 in CO5? Answer: yes, because raw file support has only expanded since CO3.
2. Can I open a CO3 session in CO5? Answer: no, there is no conversion for CO3 session to CO4 or 5.
3. Can I open CO3 adjustments in CO5? Answer: no, there is no conversion for CO3 adjustments to CO4 or 5 adjustments.
I hope this makes it more clear.0 -
ah, thanx.
I just wanted to know if there is a conversion tool available to bring CO3 sessions into CO5 without loosing any settings.
Evidently, not.
Thank You.
Someone should make one, like PhaseOne coders.0 -
You're welcome.
The other issue you mentioned is merging CO5 sessions. This is not a feature which currently exist in the program. Within a same platform however (Win to Win, Mac to Mac) sessions are transferrable to another system. Next, on the destination system, you can move images from one folder into the other session's folder. When moving images to a different folder within CO5 the program also transfers the adjustments.0 -

Is not to be expected, I am afraid. This request has been going around here since the introduction of CO4, over two and a half years ago (CO4 public beta dates back to September 2007). You can do a search here if you're interested on this topic.0 -
Why so damn cryptic? 0 -
case closed. thanx. 0 -

Sorry if I wasn't clear but I had thought I answered your question with the above statement. Again, I apologize if we've disappointed and confused matters further.0 -
I was never confused. I was justly looking for a direct response. But thanx anyway. I finally got my answer, even though I got the picture, so to speak, half way through.
No one has developed an automated conversion path of v3 Sessions to fully read as a v5 Session.0
