    As Paul mentioned, try the other USB ports. I have this issue as well. The port closest to the power supply seems most reliable.

    Test with EOS Utility. Download the latest version for compatibility with Snow Leopard. Does it connect? If yes, it is not the hardware and you could use this as a backup solution.

    Try also different (and shorter) cables. I know, that same cable works with other computers. Test it anyway.

    Another option is to revert to CO 5.0.2. You can download it from the download software archive pages in the Phase One site.

    remove your CF-Card from your 1Ds Mark III and activate shoot without card in your camera!
    Capture One should work now tethered! If you have a compact flash card inside your 1Ds Mark III capture one gets confused.
