As a relatively recent newcomer to C1, I well remember the confusion that this one causes.

Select the batch tab (the rightmost one, with an icon of 3 small gear wheels). At the bottom of the tab, next to the process counter, is a button, which in your case is almost certainly labelled 'Stop'. This means that processing starts automatically when you click the 'Process' button.

If you click the 'Stop' button, batch processing will be stopped and jobs will be queued, as described in the Help document (the label on the button will then be 'Start'). You then need to press 'Start' to initiate the batch processing.

The advantage of a queue is that it can be re-ordered and changed, which in a professional environment can be very useful. For experimentation, however, immediate processing is probably more useful.

Another thing that caught me out is that you have to shift-click the process button to process all the selected images; clicking the button only processes the current image. That might be of interest.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the guidance. I managed to get it done with the stop button and get it every photos in Q.

There's 2 window on the screen, top and bottom. Below are the images I taken, and once I click on the photos, the image will appear on top. When I shift click around 5 images, it will appear at the top.

As for that, how can I get these 5 images straight to the batch under Q?

Because on the top of the window, only 1 image is highlighted. And when either I click on process on the left window, or I right click for process, it only appear that image that is highlighted is process to Q. (only 1). I had to manually click on every photos and process so it will appear on the batch column. I thought by clicking 5 images, clicking on process, 5 images will be in the Q column instead of 1.

    Thanks alot! 😄

I just cannot understand why this topic causes so much confusion with some people. There is even a sticky on this forum about it.
It is common practice in software that 'shift' is used to process a multiple selection of anything!

Of course I understand the shift function. For selecting and batch processing, there's no problem with it.

The only thing is when I selected 5 images holding the shift down, 5 appear on top. But the highlighted of image is only one. I tried with shift key, cntrl, I am unable to highlight 5 of them. So when I click on process, only the one that is highlight can go through.

I hope I did not mislead everyone.

The converse argument is that if you need to take special measures to explain something, many people do not find it intuitive ...

Incidentally, where any UI is concerned, 'intuitive' is not necessarily the same thing as 'sensible'. This thread started with a question about batch process stopping and starting in C1v4. I did not find this arrangement intuitive, but once I understood it (which was not a protracted process), it seemed to me rather sensible.

I think this is arguable where Windows users are concerned. They are likely to be familiar with shift-clicking for selection, but not necessarily with shift-clicking buttons to process a selection rather than the just the image in focus. This is partly because 'focus' and 'selection' are not clearly differentiated in the way most people learn to use Windows. Things might be different on the Mac, but I have no knowledge of that.

Sorry, but I don't quite understand what you are saying here.
You should select tthe images you want by ctrl-clicking on each one, and then while holding down the shift key, click on the process icon. Then all your selected images will be processed.

    Hello
You don´t read what we are trying to tell!

There are 3 modes och selection
    1. NOT SELECTED ATT ALL (got that!) (You deselct by klicking outside a bicture or alt-ctrl-A
    2. Selected and current picture to work with (A LIGHT border)
    3. Selected as a part of many (NOT THAT ligth selected) and the number 2

SHIFT and any command vill process/do whatever with 3 above
Pressing Command allone w/o SHIFT will process/do whatever 2

With a handle like imacken, that's quite an admission ...

Incidentally, the whole of this thread beautifully illustrates the difficulty of explaining the difference between 'selection' and 'focus'. For C1v4, I'd explain it thus:
    • The image with focus is the one with the thick white border in the thumbnail browser and displayed as the main or only image in the preview. It is part of the current selection. This is the (only) image that gets processed (or queued for processing) when you click the Process button.

    • The selected images are the image in focus, plus any with a narrow white border. These are all processed (or queued) when you Shift+click the Process button.

    • If the preview pane says 'no images selected', none of the thumbnails in the browser will have a border, and there will be no image with focus. Nothing will happen when you click the Process button.
    Hope this helps.
