"New Capture Folder" missing in Windows version?
The recent Webinar on "Sessions & Catalogs" (published on 8th June) demonstrates a really useful feature starting at around 46:30. In a session it shows that "Right Click" on the main "Capture" Session Folder gives an option "New", and this allows the creation of new Albums, Smart Albums and - crucially - Capture Folders. An incredibly useful facility, as it means that a sub-folder can be created, marked as the current "Capture" folder and also added to the "Favourites" list - all in one operation. Running C1 version 11.1.1 under Windows 10, however, there is no "New" option; indeed, the second entry in the demonstrated menu ("Rename", I think) is also absent. Instead I see "New Inside Capture Folder", which is greyed out. The Webinar was captured on a Mac, so I'm curious to know why Windows doesn't have the "New>Capture Folder" facility? It's possible that there is a technical reason related to support for symbolic links, for example; but, if not, this seems to be a gratuitous difference. I, for one, would very much welcome this facility being added to the Windows version - if it's technically possible, of course.

So what exactly do you see listed when you right click the Capture folder?

Thank you (another) Ian!
What I see is a menu with the following items:
New inside "Capture Folder" >
-------------------------------------
Sort Albums and Favorites by Name
Rename
Edit
Delete
-------------------------------------
Add to Favorites
-------------------------------------
Set As Capture Folder
Set As Selects Folder
Set As Output Folder
Set As Trash Folder
-------------------------------------
Synchronise...
Show in Library
Show in Explorer
Show Info
-------------------------------------
Import >
Export >
Export as Catalog...
-------------------------------------
Empty Session Trash
-------------------------------------
Add Collection to Media Pro
The items in italics are greyed out. This appears to be different to that which was demonstrated in the Webinar, and this makes me wonder why - especially as the function is actually very useful.0 -
Perhaps the best thing to do is create a support case and ask whether there is in fact a difference between the Windows and Mac versions in this respect. If there is, then you know. If there isn't meant to be then they may be able to help you get the functionality you are missing.

Are you right clicking on the Capture Folder in the 'Session Folders' or in the 'System Folders' part of the Library?
I get different options in the right click menu depending on which I'm clicking on.0 -
The menu I described in my previous post is when right-clicking the Capture Folder in the Session Folders. If I repeat the exercise with Capture in the System Folders I get almost the same menu, but with the first item being New inside "Capture" and a different set of items greyed out. Otherwise the menus are identical.

I am moving from OSX to Windows.
Selects folder > *right click* > new > selects folder
Capture folder > *right click* > new > capture folder
These functions are fundamental to my workflow on OSX.
On my Windows install these are greyed out. I contacted support and they replied:
"I have just tried this and found it is an issue. I have reported this to our development team to be fixed."
As if I had just found some new bug. Then I find this post from literally a year ago reporting the issue.
Just updated to 12.1 and the bug has not been fixed.
Am I the only person that has a problem with this?0 -
Not quite the same, but I have a lot of favorites & sort by name has been grayed out for a long time...even before the C 20 upgrade. 0
