Problems when updating a catalogue
Hello everybody!
First of all I have to apologize for my English (I am from Germany).
I' using EM2 under Windows 7 64 bit.
Let's suppose I have "d:\pictures\family" and "...\nature" in my catalogue. Auto-Update for all folders / the complete path is activated. There are two problems now:
When I move a picture from folder "nature" to "family" using the Windows Explorer EM2 does not automatically update "family" although the Auto-Update option is chosen. I even get no hint that something has changed in the folders.
When I manually update "family" (right klick ...) this folder remains unchanged. Instead I get a second folder-structure "d:\pictures\family" in the catalogue. Only in this "family"-folder I have the updated pictures (I can see the moved file).
So why is there a second (and the only updated) "family"-folder instead of updating the first "family"-folder?
Thanks a lot in advance for every answer!

No need to apologize for your English; it is better than most native English speakers! I wish my German were half as good as your English. Ich habe alles vergessen. [quote="NNN634232644647364537" wrote:

I'm not an expert, but I think this action is the root cause of the problem. In my experience, one should never move (or copy or delete) image files using Windows Explorer (or Mac Finder, for Mac users). The preferred method is to move the files from within the Expression Media interface using drag and drop or the "Action > Transfer to Folder" function (I don't know the German name for it). I suspect that your action of moving your files outside the EM environment is causing the problems you are seeing.0 -
Not sure about your problem, but you certainly can move files in the finder on the mac and then use reset paths.
Your program sounds like a confused catalogue.

I am having the same problem (2). When I click on a folder in the catalog and choose to update it, EM creates a parallel folder of the same name and duplicates the entries in the database instead of updating the folder I chose.
Windows 7 64 bit.
