Maybe the online tutorials are helpful:

I have the processing upgraded from 3.79 to v5 (and from a Windows box to a MacPro) and we can't seem to use the software. Even the most basic functions do not appear to work like applying adjustments to multiple images. The downloaded manual is completely useless and looks like advertising blurb. Is there a REAL FULL USER MANUAL ? v5 is completely different and we cannot use it.

I completely agree with this post : the C1 Pro manual is not usable or I'm blind ?!
Things are not explained how to use and even with the best pdf reader, images in manual has the size of a poststamp.. I'm not able to use it and I think that of course nobody from Phase One has sitten one day in front of screen to try and/or to test it ?
Sorry Phase One, your soft is good, image rendering superb but your user manual is a shame and not at same level of expertise as your company claims to be... Even the worst image processing software has a better manual.
Many people are waiting for a REAL and Usable manual, I hope it will come soon ?
Thanks to some years of using several imaging softwares, I was able to overcome the simpliest steps in C1 Pro workflow process.

    Cheers.

I just got a response from support saying the "user guide" was the only bit of documentation they have. Its completely useless and goes into no actaul detail about how to use the software. When people get into computer trouble the first thing asked is "did you read the manual?" well as far as I am concerned C1 5 has no manual and its not acceptable. The "online tutorials" are too small and too stupid. I don't want "sessions" , I don;t want to "Capture" anything (I am quite capable of transferring my own files thank you) all I want to do it point C1 at a directory of Raw files, make adjustments and have C1 process the raws to a sub directory called "Processed" C1 3.7 used to do this very well and simply but C1 5 its uselessly complicated with NO DOCUMENTATION !!!!

The sessions structure is actually capable of handling what it sounds like you want. Open a new tethered session (I know you're not tethered) and transfer your raw images to the capture folder, the processed files by default will be in the output folder. So instead of pointing C1 you transfer from within your asset management program. This is just one idea I'm sure there's others.

You can name and place a new folder for output anywhere you want from the Output (Processing) area under Output Naming > Output To. Click the box with the three dots (...) on the Output To line and a Mac screen will open:

1.) First determine the location on your computer where you want the output folder to be created. In your case I believe you want an output sub-folder created in your RAW capture folder. Select your RAW capture folder as the Output To location.

2.) Then click New Folder, name the new folder, click Create and finally click Set as Output Folder. The Mac screen will close and you'll be back at C1 ready to process into the sub-folder you just created. The path to the folder you just created will be displayed on the Output To line.

I use Desktop as my "default" Output To location. That way I'm required to think about where I want processed images to go or don't have to remove them from the last folder I used and place them where I really want them.

I agree that the Users Guide could be more detailed and screenshots it uses need to be redone so the images are readable. A final proofreading wouldn't hurt either. The video tutorials are certainly helpful and I use them as a supplement to the User Guide. The bottom line for me though, and I assume for most users, is the superior RAW image processing. I would not trade that for a highly technical manual.

In the old C1 (3.7) I could set default as a "processed" folder within whatever folder I was browsing. I can't seem to do this with C1v5 it seems to want to treat everything as a "session" or a "capture" ..forget that rubbish ! If I browse to bunch of raw files in a directory I just want C1 to always process to a subdirectory of whatever folder i'm browsing. This program is way TOO complicated all I want to do is convert RAW files to a subdirectory every time ... if I have to set up each "session" its useless. C1 3.7 was much much better then this complicated stuff.

I also can't find how to delete the massive background files C1 seems to be making ... as I've said this program has virtually no useful documentation about anything.

By default I think v3 worked in sessions too so it's not a new concept. In any case without a willingness to adapt there's no point in posting, unless the point is to vent.

Yes, you can! But you need CO5 Pro where you can define the output folder as a subfolder of the image folder.

Regarding sessions: the concept can be somewhat confusing but you can ignore at the same time and assign your own folders. And as the another poster already stated: the session concept existed in CO3 (and earlier IIRC) in almost the same way.
