IPTC/XMP rules
Hello from France.
Since I use IDimager, I uninstalled Media Pro, but I stay interested by the evolution of the software. Maybe because I was a faithful user of its "daddy", Expression Media.
One of the main problem I experienced with MP is its incorrect behaviour, according to some IPTC rules. Specially, I noticed that MP was able to read metadata from IPTC tag "Event", but unable to write this same tag properly. MP uses its own tag to write events !
Was this problem solved ? Is there any way to get infos abour that ? And how Phase One can say : "MP, a profesionnal solution" (or something like this) if the product does not follow the official rules from EXIF/IPTC/XMP ?

I am also a user of MediaPro since it did belong to iView Multimedia. I believe XMP was opened up by Adobe around the same time when iView MediaPro 3 was released. I GUESS that certain tags were not in XMP yet and so iView Multimedia created their own proprietary tags. Unfortunately, since iView Multimedia was sold to Microsofts and then PhaseOne not much has happened so the new Media Pro still uses some proprietary tags. I am no authority in these standards so somebody correct me if this is wrong. 0 -
I think you are right.
In fact, the problem is : why MP, which is clearly a dam software, still uses old tags ? The main task for MP developpers would be to correct this as fast as possible.
During this time, other products in the same category (IDimager, Daminion) follows the EXIF/IPTC/XMP rules...
However, note that IDimager write events with a wrong tag. According to Hert (IDi creator and developper), that is because IPTC rules had changed. But it is (quite) easy to modify in IDimager. The "bad" tag is : "Iptc4xmpExt:Event_1_" and the right one : "Iptc4xmpExt:Event". I don't know what tag is used by MP.0
