Yet ANOTHER problem with the 12.1 "upgrade."

After completing the 12.1 upgrade, with difficulties noted in another thread, I've imported some new images. All of the CR2 files (Canon RAW from a 5D4) have a seriously bad blue cast to them. Jpeg and DNG files look fine. The problem occurs in both the grid layout as well as when I select one image for editing.

I edit, label and keyword images in Lightroom. I then export the new images as a catalog and import that catalog into C1. Its a work flow that has worked just fine until 12.1 came along.

I've closed C1 a couple of times hoping that would solve the problem, but no such luck.

Any suggestions on how to resolve the issue in 12.1 would be appreciated.

Not sure why you would do your RAW editing in LR and then import to C1 as a catalogue.

It seems rather pointless since then C1 has to then interpret the LR settings or discard them and start again.

Or have I misunderstood what you wrote above?

Are you using an LR subscription licence?

If so, for completeness in the investigation, have there been any LR updates that might coincide with the start of this problem?

Lightroom has better search and filtering capabilities. C1 does not stitch or stack photos. I think key wording is also slightly easier in LR vs C1. After those tasks are complete, I export the new images as a catalog and do the vast majority of my retouching work in C1.

As I said in my initial post, this work flow was working just fine before the 12.1 upgrade. After the upgrade the screwed up colors in the CR2 files are essentially making C1 worthless to me.

I'm using a stand alone version of LR 6, I refused to buy into the Adobe subscription model.

So what are the files you are sending to C1 from LR? TIFF? DNG?

The CR2 files are the ones that have the color cast issue. Jpegs and DNG are unaffected. The CR2 files are from a Canon 5DM4. I have not done any firmware updates to the camera in over a year so they are not the problem. Plus the same images are displayed normally in Lightroom.

as properly noted - if it is some a bug somewhere - lodge the report with support...

    I downloaded https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/ ... R0.CR2.HTM

Opened it in C1 v12.1 - no issues

What happens on your side with the same raw ?

As this is a CR2 file what, if anything, has been done to it in LR?

Or is LR not really any part of the apparent problem here?

What happens if you open a CR2 file directly in C1 immediately after it has been taken ignoring the LR workflow?

    Another test you can try.
In LR, set it so it will create an external sidecar file for your raw files.
Then open a CR2 file, give it a rating, a color tab, and some key words. These should go to the sidecar file.
Then with with a right click, show the file in Explorer. You should also see the sidecar file.

Then open up Capture One. Use Windows File Explorer to find the CR2 file you just labeled.Click on it and drag it to the open C1 screen. C1 will then ask you to import it.
When it does, the ratings and keywords will come over.
I do this all the time, though I am currently using Bridge to find the file and drag it to C1.

When you do this, you should see no color cast on the raw in C1. BTW, I shoot a Canon 80D.

Edit - BTW, if you stick a raw file that you have this issue with in something like Dropbox, I'll look at it for you in both LR Classic and in C1

Jim MSP- I contacted tech support and I'll see what they have to say. If they don't offer a good solution its good to know there is another work around option. Thanks.

When the images were imported C1 assigned a "Custom" White Balance. By selecting the affected images and changing the White Balance to "Shot" the problem was resolved.

What happens if you try to Auto White Balance one of the images?

Have you any idea where the Custom WB came from?

Do you have any Styles or Presets active on import? Or perhaps a default WB set for the camera without realising it?

I guess you went through all of those options with the Support Team?

This makes sense - except I don't understand how a dng was not effected.

What happens if you try to Auto White Balance one of the images? I did not try "Auto", just "Shot" when I did the correction.

Have you any idea where the Custom WB came from? Not a clue.

Do you have any Styles or Presets active on import? No.

Or perhaps a default WB set for the camera without realising it? Not that I'm aware. It was never a problem prior to the 12.1 release.

I guess you went through all of those options with the Support Team? LOL.... they just said to check the white balance but offered no explanation why its suddenly an issue with 12.1.

Yes only the CR2 files were affected, not the DNG or Jpeg files.... again, no clue on what's going on other than some code in the 12.1 software has an error.

I have not added anymore images in the past several days so I don't know if this will be an ongoing issue.
