Split a Catalog
Anyone have any insight or methodology for splitting a single large catalog into two or more catalogs?
The objective is to move a number of projects from one catalog into another and of course including all the adjustments, etc, with it.
Currently (version 11.3) it looks like the workflow would be tedious:
Anyone have an easier way to do this?
It would be much simpler if you could select multiple Projects/Albums/Groups, etc. in the Library and pick a menu item that was "Move to New Catalog".
Thanks in advance.

Currently (version 11.3) it looks like the workflow would be tedious:
1. Open the Catalog you want to split.
2. Select a Project/Album, etc. in the Library panel.
3. Export that project to a new Catalog.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 for each Project that you want to move to a new Catalog. Once done, then...
5. Create a new Catalog.
6. With the new Catalog created in step 5 open, Import each of the Catalogs created in step 3.
7. Open the original catalog from step 1, delete each Project/Album exported in steps 2 and 3.
8. Delete each of the intermediate catalogs created in step 3.

Heree's how I would do it.
1. Create two Top level Groups, "New Catalog 1" and "New Catalog 2"
2. Drag user Projects, Groups, Albums and Smart Albums into either Group "New Catalog 1" or Group "New Catalog 2"
3. Optionally, run my Script "Find Images not in any user collection". Put these images into new or existing album(s), depending on how you want to split them. Or don't run the script, leave them be, and they will be in both new catalogs.
3. Empty the Catalog trash (don't delete from disk).
4. Close the catalog. Duplicate the catalog file (actually a bundle), giving either or both Catalogs new names.
5. Open the first catalog, and delete Group "New Catalog 2. Empty the Catalog trash (don't delete from disk)"
6. Open the second catalog, and delete Group "New Catalog 1". Empty the Catalog trash (don't delete from disk)
7. In each new Catalog, drag the top level collections out of the "New Catalog" Group, making them top level user collections.
8. Optionally, run my Script "Find Images not in any user collection", and remove these items from the catalog. Or don't run the script, and all images will be referenced by both Catalogs.
