Import Metadata in CSV format to Media Pro?

You might be able to do this with a script. John Beardsworth has written a number of iView vbs scripts (Windows Only) that can be easily modified to work with within Media Pro (instructions on the page linked below). I have used a few of these with great success in both Expression Media 2 and Media Pro. The one that looks most promising for your purposes is "Sync_files_with_same_names". In your case it assumes that for each .mov file that you have a corresponding .csv file (such as clip_xyz789.mov and clip_xyz789.csv) and it copies metadata from one to the other (within the active catalog only; I assume it would still need to be exported to an xmp).

Here is a link to the pertinent page at his site:

    Hope this helps,
    Mark

(PS - A caveat -I've only ever cataloged still images and pdf/doc/xls files, never any movie files)

It can be easily done by script, applescript on Mac. You need some programming experience to do this. The script can read csv line by line (regardless if there is only one ore many .csv) and write to metadata of files contained in MP Catalog. You can then sync the metadata back to the original files.

    Thanks wolf.
Unfortunately I don't know how to drive applescript. Would you happen to know any publications or web links that could get me started.
