Script/Automator to open .ivc and save as .mpcatalog
We have one .ivc catalog per client and it's over 1000 files. It would take half a day to open and resave these files manually.
Can anyone help with a AppleScript or Automator script to convert the files? The script would go throw the old folder and open and save each file in the new format.
Please help

Hello,
I have more of 16 000 ivc files. Is it possible to use a robot for the conversion ?

Hi,
I wrote a droplet AppleScript converter app to do this on my Mac shortly after moving to MP1 (I also have beau coup .ivc catalogs):
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6317362/xmedia/ ... og.app.zip
It accepts dropped .ivc catalogs and outputs a Save As... .mpcatalog in the same folder. It uses a bunch of GUI AppleScripting, so you should not try to do anything else on your Mac while it's running. It is also not that fast. Babbysit the app if you can, in case it chokes on some particular catalog. I have not found a faster way to do this, yet. PhaseOne should make a complete, standalone converter app.
I recommend adding my AppleScript converter app to your Finder sidebar, then doing a Spotlight search for .ivc files and dropping the ones you want on the converter app, or use it when needed for individual .ivc files. Just launching the app will give you a dialog about dragging and dropping .ivc files onto it.
Works for me under SnowLeopard (10.6.8). Shouldn't affect existing .ivc catalogs and will not overwrite existing .mpcatalog files. No guarantees, though. Back up your files before attempting high-quantity conversions.
Let me know if you get any errors.

Thank you Larry. It worked fine on Lion too. It's a bit rough at the edges as you pointed out but it works. It just shows how easy it would be for PhaseOne to make a converter like this if they wanted to.
For some unknown reason I have been unsubscribed from the threads here at the forum so I didn't see this until know. I'm so fed up with the PhaseOne quality level right now I will kick something hard just as I finish this.0 -
i realize this is an old message but i am hoping someone is still around to answer. i tried the converter app, but i get an error message the file is damaged and should be trashed.
