Default Shapening

I saw in another post that I can save a default sharpening setting. How do I do that?

    Go to the sharpening tool. In the tool's title bar you'll find a tiny triangular shaped symbol at the right. Click on it to open, select Safe as Defaults.

    I see the little downward facing triangle but when I click it nothing at all happens.

    Paul - one more question. In the old 3x version I used to keep sharpening at about the default - "standard - Amt 20 - threshold 3" What might be the equivalent of that in 4.8.1?

    Strange, are you sure you did not right-clicked? Just regular left-click on it (unless you reversed mouse buttons).

    Mike, I am afraid I do not have a kind of conversion for your. Sharpening is different in CO4 compared to 3, although under the previously discussed triangle - once it will open - you can find the CO 3.7 soft/standard look options to mimic the old days. (I just came to realize I have been working more than one and a half years now with CO4 incl. the public beta, my 3.x memories are becoming faint.)

    Yes... I click on the little triangle on the right side, the triangle turns an orange color but nothing else happens.

    I found the problem. If C1 is maximized on the monitor the little window that opens with the click is to the right of the main screen, which means it cannot be seen. If the C1 screen is made smaller then the adjustment window opens just fine.

    But another question: if I change the sharpening settings, and then SAVE DEFAULTS, when new images are opened, the original shapening settings are still automatically applied not the changed settings that I want for the new defaults.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Define 'new images'.

    When you open images which have not been opened in CO4 before, hence which do not have a settings file created, the new default should apply.

    Hi Paul, I have this problem as well, saving new defaults does not work, all newly opened files resort to the original C1 default.

    Hi Dave, what an amazing discoveries...
    Checked it again. Set new default. Discard Settings folder. Open again, new defaults are applied (honest). Reset defaults. Close. Discard Settings folder. Previous defaults are applied. Using CO 4.8.1 (either standard and pro), XP SP3, Leica M8 DNG files.
    What image files are you using?
