4.8.2/Canon 5Dmk2 crash problem
Hello all,
I am experiencing crashes when I begin to work with file(s) recently imported from a card to my computer. When I begin to edit or try to create a webgallery I am getting crashes. Has anyone else had the same issue?

Could be a corrupt file, corrupt session file, corrupt adjustment files or any combination of the three. Try creating a blank session, move the files to the new captures folder, and have the software rebuild the previews. If this doesn't work, have a look through the cr2 files in the finder for corrupt files (ones without a thumbnail preview). 0 -
I was having the same problem. Thought maybe upgrading to 4.8.3 would solve the problem and only made it worse. I cannot use the program at all! Opening up the app, I attempted to make another blank folder in which to move the possibly corrupted cr.2 raw files and I get the spinning beachball of death, cannot force quit, must hard re-start the computer.
Before and after upgrading, I repaired permissions and ran disk first-aid which said everything was fine.
Capture One will open for about 3-4 seconds before crashing, repeatedly. Cannot use.

Start with uninstall CO4. See KB article for instructions:
http://www.phaseone.com/HOME/Content/Su ... 20-%20Main
Next, clear the Capture One sub folder with previews and adjustments of a recent set of images (or copy images into a new folder without the Capture One sub folder).
Third, install CO4 and after starting the first time, open the clean image folder you created in the previous step.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion, but licensing issues are too drastic a step for me to take yet.
FYI...
I should have time machine loaded, but I don't.
So I did the manual version of TM and removed from the local computer (in the Finder), the most recently imported session to where the machine was last stable. I also trashed the main Phase One p.list preference file. When re-starting Capture One, it no longer opened to the last folder containing the most recent downloads when crashing started happening. It opened to the last known working session and has been open for 1/2 hour now, the longest it has stayed working for at least a week!
It would appear that a file got corrupted in my last download process through a card reader, but I'm not sure how to determine the culprit. All files seem relatively the same size in the Finder and all have image previews. But now that things are working, I'll tip-toe along, and update if I have any more repeated crashing issues.
Thanks again for your thoughts.0 -

The last opened folder is stored in the plist file. Removing this file is a way of preventing CO4 to open it again.[quote="enbakken" wrote:

Split your collection of images into a set of different folders (say: 4). Opening one of those will probably crash CO4. Split that folder again and so on. Another option and perhaps faster: CO4 can not create a preview from a corrupt image file. Look into the preview (Cache) subfolder for a missing file (I assume they are sequentially numbered) or one with a non-standard size. Remove it and the corresponding image file and settings file. Next, re-open the folder in CO4.0
