Import Dialog - two questions...?
1. In the 'Import To' section of the Import Dialog, there is a drop down menu called Collection. It has three items, Recent Imports Only, Capture Collection and Selected Album. Typically, which one should I be using?
(P.s. There is no mention, whatsoever, of this part of the Import Dialog here> http://help.phaseone.com/en/CO8/Library ... aspx#item2 and in the online video tutorial, it receives a cursory mention that I couldn't understand)
2. In the 'Import From' section of the Import dialog, if I point the dialog at a folder containing sub-folders, the sub-folders show up in the Catalog directory in the Library tab, NOT the host folder that I have pointed the Import From dialog to. (Which is what happens in LR, for what it's worth) This means that if I don't rename the sub-folders beforehand (it's not possible to rename them after they're imported into the Catalog directory, as far as I can see) then, I'm stuck with them.
If this is the case, it is a tad annoying to put it mildly. If I shoot multiple cards on a job, they are all put separately into a dated job folder (The job folder might be called, '2014-12-04 PhaseOne' ). e.g. 100EOS1D, 100EOS1D-1, 100EOS1D-2, etc... In Lightroom, only the dated job folder is visible in the Library directory. In C1, all I see in the Catalog directory are the three sub-folders. Why C1 can't simply import the folder that you've pointed it to (and its subfolder) AND retain its name is odd.
Please tell me there is a way around this?
C1 should simply put the name of the folder you have pointed the Import Dialog at in the Catalog Directory and ignore the sub-folders, in my view. 😊
Thanks.

Just solved question 2.
All I had to do was right-click on the drive in the Library hierarchy tree and choose Show Folders Hierarchy. Now source folder that I chose in the Import Dialog is visible, along with the sub-folders below it. Brilliant! 😄
Now, I just need an answer to my first question! 😎
Thanks.

2) I just wanted to answer question 2, but you figured out ... 😊
But there is a difference to LR, the parent folders don't show the number of files, nor can you access them via a parent folder. Got to get used to it. Therefore, you maybe might want to store all cards from a job into the same folder.
1) That certainly depends on how you work with collections i assume, haven't tried yet by my own.0 -

Hi BeO,
Not sure what you mean. If you're referring to C1- the parent folder of the Imported job, in the Library/Catalog window, doesn't show the number of files - correct - but, if you click on it to reveal the sub-folders (each memory card, in my case) the number of files captured on each card is listed.
I DO store all the files from a job in one job folder, but the sub-folders of that job (each memory card) I keep separate within that job folder. So, the job folder "2014-12-04 BeO", for example, might have three sub-folders representing three memory cards. All of these I can see in the Library/Catalog tree, with the number of files in each also. Perfect!
I hope I'm making sense! 😊

2) Ah, I misunderstood you, I thought you wanted to access all images from the job by selecting the job folder "2014-12-04 BeO" within C1, not by selecting the card folders.
Best,
BeO0
