Minor bug detected
Not sure if this is at all relevant to post here but in C1 Express 7.1.2 the following bug appears to be consistently present with the Lens Correction tool in OSX 10.8.4:
If working on an image that can not have lens corrections applied (jpg, dng) the Lens Correction tool is greyed out. If another tool tab is selected (Library for instance, but doesn't matter), once returning to the Composition tool tab where Lens Correction tool is located in C1 Express the Chromatic Aberration text is not greyed out anymore and the tick box is clickable. All other options under the tool is still greyed out. I can't see if CA correction is actually performed, but at least the tick box maintained shown as clicked and the Status of the image becomes "Adjusted". If selecting Copy Adjustments afterwards, CA correction appears not to be copied.
Not a big deal, but I thought it made sense to let you know.
BTW, why can't DNG files have Lens Corrections applied? They are RAW files as well, no? Or is it just my particular DNG (RIcoh GRD3 camera).
Cheers,
Andreas

Unfortunately they are too generic. Some are stripped of relevant information needed for Lens Correction so proper application of the adjustment is impossible.
Regarding your findings, as long as "generic" is available in the Lens Correction tool adjustment of the Chromatic Aberration is certainly possible.0 -

Makes sense regarding Lens Correction of DNG's, thanks for pointing this out. As for the other findings, not sure that I made my point clear. This is what I'm seeing with DNG's and JPG's:
Normally, everything under Lens Corrections is greyed out, and the Profile drop-down list displays "none" greyed out. Can't select or change anything. If I choose any other tab in the Tools section and again go back to the Composition tab, everything is again greyed out except for the CA tick box which can be clicked. If one does this on an otherwise unedited image the status of the image is reported as "adjusted". Nothing is reported as copied if one selects Copy Adjustments though, so not sure if anything is actually done on the image.
If clicking on another image or doing anything else after the Composition tab has been opened, the CA tick box again becomes greyed out.
I hope this explanation makes sense. I can upload some screenshots if that's better.

We've seen this before in a few files here and there.
Typically it means the file is not fully loaded or the proxy is not generated.
If you can make this occur with consistency it be helpful to get a file from you so we could reproduce it here and learn more about why you are seeing it.0 -
I actually see this consistently with all jpg's and dng's, and can always reproduce this. I'm happy to upload a file, but as mentioned any jpg i load into C1 Express shows this effect.
