Maybe enjoy some video tutorials on the basics of Capture One?

Based on your description I am afraid I do not understand what you try to achieve.

    Thanks Paul,

I have a library named "X" on my hard disk.
In "X" I have RAW files that I copied from a card to my "X" library on my HD.

I want to process the files using Capture 1 without importing them to anyplace. Open the file, work on it and at the end save it in the same "X" library.

I don't know how to do this.

One answer: Click on any raw image in the Windows folder and click "Open With" Cap1. Process and save back to the originating folder. All very simple and straightforward.

Second answer: It is surely time that Phase issued guidance on this. Why not register a support request? Perhaps Paul could cover it in an Alchemist blog?

    Good luck, Peter.

    Thanks Peter.

The first step works well. I followed your suggestion, opened the library and with right click opened the files in Capture One. The next step I don't know: I can't save the file I have to export it. Maybe I'm missing something?

    Going from memory here!

You use the options within the processing menu to process and save in the original folder. Second tab from the left, I think.

Can I do this with P1 8.1? When I click open with I do not see P1 on the list of available options.

Note sure what you like to achieve? Can you give more details?

I just want to be able to do this:
"One answer: Click on any raw image in the Windows folder and click "Open With" Cap1. Process and save back to the originating folder. All very simple and straightforward."
But when I click "Open with" I do not see P1 as an option.

    I must be missing something.

You are running Capture One (presumably Pro version) and you are in the browser and have found an image you want to edit using Capture One.

    Right so far?

Why then would you want to use "Open with" to edit in C1 when all you have to do is click on the image?

What would be the purpose of opening C1 from witing C1?

    What am I missing?

My understanding he is using Windows Explorer "file broswer", (Not inside of CO8). So he selects the file and brings up "Window's" menu of Open With... He is asking why CO8 does not show up there.

Now, I have no answer, but just wanted to put out an idea of what he is talking about.

    Ah, OK. Thanks Robert.

I would have thought it would be much easier just to open C1 (as a "session" but without bothering with the session concept much) and then browse to the image and open it.

No need for a catalogue, importing or anything much.
