Workflow mistake I made

Hi everyone,

I think I made a mess and may just need to delete the catalogue and start from scratch, but I hope not!

What is do is import photos into sessions in C1 pro. On import, two backups are made, one to a Drobo and one to amazon S3. I don't touch the amazon backup, so it is not the issue for me.

I had all 15000 images indexed, key worded, etc, in MP. I made the catalogue from the images on the main hard drive. Now I blew it it suspect.

I then deleted some of the sessions from the main drive after I finished working them. I still have the two backups, but when I did this, MP lost the source files. From the tutorial video, it looks like I might be able to redirect MP to the backup files, but i would then lose all the tagging and keywords. Also, I don't want to end up with two copies of some of the images in MP as a result of the fact that half of the sessions are still on the main drive as well as in the backup drive.

Ultimately, I would like to be able to have the session moved to the backup when I am done processing and remain in MP with the keywords etc, but then I also have another copy of the files already in the backup that is then redundant.

What would be the way to fix this disaster I made and end up with working files on the main drive which I send to MP, one copy of MP keyworded files on the backup drive, and the MP keywords backup archives so I can delete what I don't need from the main drive?

Do I need to just start over? The idea of keyboarding all those photos is a bit scary, but I will do it if I have to.

I think I need to summarize where I am.

I have Amazon S3 backups made on image import I leave alone.

The Drobo backups are made on import and have all the images as well, but these are not the actual files the MP cat was made from.

The main drive had all the files and all were put into MP from there, but I deleted half of them.

MP has a catalogue that still has access to the files that are on the main drive, but it is looking now for the files I deleted, which had keywords etc done like the other main drive files.

I tried to reset the paths to the Drobo, but MP does not see the Drobo drive. Now do I add drives to the catalog folder? It appears not to automatically see drives.

Have you tried replacing the files/folders that you deleted? Put them back in the same original place, and MO should see them again.

So far, have not been able to put the backups on the hard drive and reset, as had some crashes on MP. Starting to suspect best bet will be a new catalog.
