Renaming files keeping the capture number.

Hello,

I have been using Capture One Pro 5 for some time. Downloaded the latest version (5.0.2). I am now becoming a little frustrated on re naming files. I shoot both tethered and untethered in the same shoot. The untethered files are named with a CF in front of the original capture number, the tethered does not have a CF. When they are sent to the client, the different names becomes a problem.
I have also had problems with for example, not naming the shots correctly as I shoot, so I want to rename them later. File name and numbered extension takes away the original capture number. The only way to keep the capture number is to keep the 'wrong' filename. ie I want to change 'ccc-1206.TIF' into 'Background-1206.TIF'.
I hate comparing to LR, because Capture One is hands down the only way to develop files (if you care for them that is), however in LR I can rename the images with any name and just the original capture number. Any ideas? Help? If C1 does not offer this, is there another program that does (like LR)?

  Brendan,
  If you need complete and highly specific access to rename your files then I would recommend you look into a program that is specialized to do so. Such programs are usually quite inexpensive and can do anything and everything you need to the image name.
  In regard to naming the files the same on Capture, if you change the Naming method to Name and Capture Counter when tethered but leave the Name blank you will get the same "CF" result you get when shooting to card.

  I have now used the Better Finder Renamer and renamed all my files in the session. Unfortunately, I now have lost all my adjustments that I have made to the files. In the Settings folder I can see the .COS files are labelled with the old file names. How can I get my adjustments back?

  Either rename you image files back or rename you .cos files as your renamed your image files so that they will correspond again with the image file.
  Next time you rename before you adjust in CO.

  Paul's correct. You simply need to rename the adjustment files to reflect the same name of your RAW files. However, I do think there is a way to link these renaming actions within ABFR?
