The New Clarity Tool in C1PRO 7
Hi Everyone,
Is there anyone here that don't like the "look" of the new Clarity tool in version 7? I primarily shoot male models for men's fashion and bodies work (underwear and anything considered "hot" or "sexy"). The old Clarity tool was perfect and I don't use beyond the value of 50 to initially enhance male model musculature.
With the new version, the Clarity tool add a stronger darkening fringes between skin and say seamless paper background. I'll probably create a rough video capture to show my point. Using the old process version, a max Clarity value of 100 creates those noticeable fringe halos. That is why I never go past a value of 50 (or 60 is wanting to stretch).
In the new version, the halo/fringe is noticeable, even at low amounts of 30 and does NOT look as effective in musculature enhancement.
I'll update this thread with another post with a link to YouTube, showing the unsatisfied results of the new Clarity tool. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
Yours sincerely,
Ron

Just use the old tool then? Problem solved. 0 -
If I don't elected to use the new process version, I won't have access to the other GOOD enhancements, e.g. Lens Correction and Noise Reduction. 0 -
Just for clarification, do you use Clarity Neutral or Punch? 0 -
Clarity Neutral.
Let me make a rough video capture. I haven't done that yet.
Most of my images are shot (if in studio) either in front of a white wall or grey (Savage Thunder Grey or Savage Charcoal). When the new Clarity is used even at low settings, e.g. 30, I could see a noticeable darkening fringe or halo around the interfacing region of my model and the background.
I know things will make sense once you see the rough video capture.0 -
Here is the rough, unscripted video I made showing the darkening halo even at low Clarity settings of the new C1PRO 7.

Playing with the clarity settings.
It almost seems like C1 v6 is better with portraits and v7 and vastly better for landscapes.0 -
This is what I thought too. I can't tell C1PRO 7 to have everything process version 7 and have the Clarity to look like version 6. [quote="ben43456" wrote:
