Highlights and shadows control request
Most other RAW converters (and Photoshop), as well has having H & S amount controls also have Width, Radius and Mid Contrast control. While Clarity seems to act partially as a Mid Contrast control and I never use Radius anyway, the lack High and Low Width is a problem for me.
Most of my work is Interiors and my starting point is to use 25 Highlights and 20 Clarity. However, this requires an increase in exposure of .25 to bring white walls back to the desired density of somewhere around the quarter tone, somewhat negating the effect. Adding more Highlights requires another increase in exposure.
I have been experimenting with a Curve as correction, rather than exposure in the same way as when I need to add contrast I apply a gentle S Curve and add 10 to 20 Shadows but have not come to a conclusion as yet.
Assuming that Capture One's H & S width default is 40, the same as Aperture and as my observations seem to confirm, a setting of 25 or so would pull back Highlights but not so far into the Mid Tones as to require an exposure or curves adjustment.
So, I'm wondering if there is any chance of something like this getting added in 4.7?
Regards,
Terry
