Capture One Pro 6.3 crashes...

Hi,

I've recently downloaded and installed Capture One Pro 6.3 and since then, the software crashes as soon as I open any folder in the Library tab.

Sometimes, the software won't crash immediately, and will instead hang for a while, until I force quit.

Did anyone else experienced such an issue and, if so, did you find a fix to this problem?

    Morning, Jean-François,

    I had similar issues with C1 in the past. There’s two things you can try out:

    1) Should you not have done so already, disable OpenCL support, setting Preferences -> General: “Hardware Acceleration†to “neverâ€. It’s a global setting, so you can open a new session to change this setting should your current session crash on you prior to your reaching the preferences.

    2) I had C1 crash on me if one or more proxies (preview images) were damaged. To remove proxies, go to your session folder (in the Finder), then delete CaptureOne/Cache/Proxies. As long as all you delete resides inside the Cache folder, no settings will be lost. Next time you start up Capture One, it will re-generate its proxy images.

    Just make sure you don’t touch the CaptureOne/Settings50 folder. That’s where, well, your development settings for the session in question are stored. You don’t want to delete these.

    I'm curently using Leopard 10.5.8, and I will most likely update to Snow Leopard 10.6 in the coming days, since one of the 3rd party software I've been using was finally updated to support Snow Leopard.

    I had the same problem with Leopard - crashing all the time have just done a clean install of Snow Leopard and it seems ok at the moment - have not had a chance to test it tethered yet.

    I'm hopping it will work fine - as we're about to buy a 10 user licence for our Studio's. We're running a mix of Canon and Nikon gear and Capture One would provide the perfect solution to our current rather fragmented workflow.

    Well, I tried to disable OpenCL and to remove the proxies, but neither of these solutions will fix the hand and/or quit problem.

    Might upgrade to Snow Leopard, to make use of the 64-bit OSX. Couldn't hurt much, I guess.

    Hopefully, the Phase One support team will come up with a solution. Otherwise, as much as I'd hate to, I might have to abandon C1 for another, more stable software.

    Well, I found a solution. Not what I expected, but it works!

    I upgraded from OSX 10.5 to 10.6 and now Capture One is as stable as it used to be in the past... Don't know why C1 6.3 wouldn't work on 10.5, but I suspect the latest versions of C1 put a lot more strain on the OS than older versions used to. Snow Leopard must take advantage of the 64-bit architecture to improve stability, I guess.

    I had frequent crashes with 6.2, but I could always restart C1 to make things work. Also had crashes with C1 6.1, and so on, with less crashes with older versions.

    I was using my mac (version 10.6.😎 and attempted to open capture software. Capture was opened my most recent session but the spinning circle kept happening.... this resulted in a dark semi opaque screen coming down the mac screen and a request - on the machine - to close down the machine then restart. Once I restarted I discovered once opening my 'proselect' software that the album I had opened at the time of the capture incident was corrupt (lost a fortnights work) I then opened photoshop and bridge and discovered the files I had retouched saved and closed from this afternoon were corrupt, not able to open and reduced to small thumbnails of approx. 74kb. What happened as I'm very fuming!!!

    What you have described is a Kernel Panic and synonymous with a Hardware conflict. Please contact Apple for further information.
