Work, close C1, re-open C1, work gone
Last week, the fall creator update visited my machine. My start menu was reset to default (or at least my selections were gone and ads for games and shopping were there) **
On Wednesday, C1 hung while selecting different image thumbnails. C1 has hung before so I didn't think much about it as I have never lost edit/adjustments work. I received an ATI driver error message and the machine hung... this is new. I had to reboot. When I restarted C1, I had lost some small.. amount of work going back to 12-25
All preferences in C1 were reset to default (work space, mask color, guides, etc) but my custom keyboard shortcuts remained. All of the little files storing C1 adjustment infos were gone. There were no file dates newer than 12-25 (I used file browser and looked in vain). The machine had not been rebooted since the update and C1 had been running while the machine entered stand-by between editing sessions.
Alright.. now I recall my start menu being reset during windows update and wonder if this could be related. I re-reset all preferences I prefer and move on trying to re-create my work.
I worked on some things last night and closed C1 in the normal fashion. The machine entered standby and this morning I woke it and started C1. All my work was gone. My preferences were not changed but all the little files that hold C1 adjustment infos were gone.
Now, I can root around and find an old C1 v.10 installation file & uninstall/re-install C1 but it is going to be a while before I trust it. I also consider I could work, back up the C1 adjustments files, close C1, move previously backed up adjustments files back where theyt belong.. - while this seems cumbersome it should work, yeah? Other than re-installing C1 or... buying the v.11 does anyone have any ideas?
** I mention this in case it could have a bearing. The machine should be clean from unwanted software; it is for image editing only and I web browse to only SmugMug, Wikipedia, Google Maps. Another machine that I use for all other stuff received the update but my start menu was not molested... I have made no hardware changes since the thing was built about 7 mos ago and it has been reliable other than when windows does some unexpected stuff/update.

There has been a problem (thread(s) in the forum somewhere) related to what went awry with writing files in the Win 10 update.
You may want to contact C1 Support for guidance.
You can always download previous versions from the Phase website Archive if finding the one you want might take some digging.
I'm staying on Win 10 so have no detailed info about your problem but maybe one of those who experienced the same issue will visit soon and help out.

Thanks for the reply to an odd question.
At least, sounds like this is not a problem only I have had.
I just made some crazy adjustments to an image and closed C1.
Re-started C1 and edit information is gone...
I rebooted the machine, made crazy edits, and closed C1
Re-started C1 and edit information remains...
Perhaps this will not happen again but I do not trust C1 right now. Unwilling to lose hrs of work for a 3rd time, I will back up adjustment infos (COF or etc.) before I close C1.
I would still like to know what caused this as understanding the cause may restore my faith in C1 :^)
Maybe it is a windows update problem.. if so, I think it is worse than if it were a C1 problem that could be repaired with an update. How Could it be a windows problem... to delete files used by another program is inconceivable but the part of me that still does not approve of the MS of forcing reboots believes it is possible !0 -
Which version of V10 are you using?

Yes, the last comment was relevant.
All happy now.
There seemed to be some doubt this trouble was Microsoft-related. If MS posted information that some thing they did could cause even MS Office products to not save info, then I would say this pooch has gone out for a date without a chaperone.0 -
For others coming across this issue, I'm going to quote Christian here: [quote="Christian Gruner" wrote:
With launch of now available Capture One 10.2.1, the issue has been fixed.

You can get 10.2.1 from our software archive, here:0
