bump, just interested in ANY improvement in speed, my prev exp with 7 was TOO SLOW, and my ONLY choice for tethered acquire is a 2011 (non retina) mbp wth ssd and 8 g mem. is this still unworkable?

I do not tether that frequent and much plus that I use CO7 from day-one, that I can objectively (with measurements in seconds…) comment properly.

However, CO7 has improved in speed in its last few incarnations. There has been a lot of optimisation done along the line.

Some tips for fast tethering with CO7 from the top of my hat:
    - set the preview cache size (Preferences) to a lower value than default; for example use your screen resolution as reference
    - (optional, cumbersome and pretty unorthodox) use the CO6 engine (Preferences) as the default during tethering; this might put a lower strain on system resources and upgrade the engine from the Base Characteristics tool after the shoot
    - tether with CO6, adjust and process with CO7; you can have both installed on one system, activated with your CO7 license key; don't forget to upgrade the Engine in CO7 after opening the CO6 tethered images
(suggestion 2 and 3 are basically the same in a different workflow)

As usual, THANKS Paul. It worked and really liked 7.13:)

Is there ANY reason to update to the latest 7.15, and from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 Mac OS(shooting tethered with the 5d mk3)?

This (7.13) seems faster(!) and more stable than the original 7.0.............THANK YOU!

Quite a lot has happened under the hood of 7.1.5, so it should be a little faster, and also more stable.

Tkx Christian, i hate to ug from 10.8.4 bc it so stable on 6.45, is 10.8.4 stable on 7.15?

😄 More often people ask whether CO7 is stable on OS X 10.8.x, not the other way round. 😄
That said, I suggest that when you are already on CO7.x and 10.8.4, you use CO 7.1.5 on 10.8.5.
