Capture One is full functional when running a trial, and that includes the Color Editor.
What might cause the issue is a low monitor resolution. Compare your monitor specs with the requirements in the release notes (Help menu).

You can work around the issue by creating a floating tool for the Color Editor: Window menu > Create Floating Tool > Color Editor.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I don't think it is a monitor issue, as my Dell 2209WA is running in its native resolution of 1680x1050 at 32-bit color depth.

Another, related, question: When I open the floating Color Editor tool is there a way to reposition it on the screen? The default position covers part of the image.
    Thanks again.

Yes, you can drag a floating tool to any location on screen, with the mouse. Click and drag the tool's title bar. Note that you can also collapse and expand the floating tool.

I do not know is it looks at the author's topic, but I keep getting a similar problem.
The tab PROCESS RECIPE click Watermark and get a piece of cut window.
Helps re-switching tabs BASIC <-> WATERMARK

I sometimes (bot not always) see similar problems - usually on the tabs that have multiple settings and long descriptions and only when docked. Anything belows the forst 4 or 5 line can be missing or look garbled on sceen. Drag to the tab to a flowating position and all is OK again.

I think it is something to do with the scaling mechanism for the screen I am using (1920x1080) and the graphics card. (I have extended the default screen area usage in order to maximise the use of avaialbe 'real estate'.)

If I rescale (downwards) the screen area in use but keep the same resolution the problems appears to go away. I first noticed this after a graphics card management utility software upgrade a few months ago. I see there is another update available now. I'm not sure whether to leave it in case it introduces further problems or apply it in the hope it fixes this problem ... but this problem for my needs, although annoying, is not perpetual and can easily be rectified so I am tempted to leave things as they are for now.

I have a similar problem with capture one 4.5 trial on a G4 eMac OS 10.5, i can use the color editor in basic mode and it works perfectly, when i choose advanced mode i cannot select a color range, if i use the color picker and choose a color nothing happens, if i click the + button it just gives me a global adjustment for saturation and hue for all colors but i have no way to select a color range while in advanced mode. Has anyone else experienced this and is there any workaround or fix for this?

There is a specific forum for both Macs and Windows here, some issues are platform specific. I would post this in the Mac forum, however...I'm curious why you might be trialing 4.5? Is there an OS compatability issue on the MAC side, if so..forgive me for pointing this out. If not, you might want to trial the current version....or (another guess from a Windows user) perhaps turn off OpenCl (move from auto to never under preferences) in case it's not fully supported by the graphics card....might be a display anomaly....but just guessing there...it's been awhile since V4 was current....

thanks i'll find the mac forum and repost, the reason for 4.5 is that my mac processor is a powerpc as opposed to an intel processor, this is the latest compatible version for my system.

Even better would be to post in the forum for version 4 and 5 of Capture One - both Windows and Mac which can be found at

You're resolution may be correct but is the Screen Ruling?

Calibrated color monitor with 1280 x 800, 24 bit resolution at 96dpi screen ruling
