why is next capture naming broken?
Another day with 4.8 on a fashion shoot many more headaches.
I have a session with a capture folder with shot folders inside. shot1, shot2, etc.
I set the next capture naming to be shot1_001, shot2_001, etc.
if for some reason I go to another folder in the session (AD or PE wants to check something) then back to the designated capture folder the next capture naming defaults back to the session name. (or whatever was in the capture naming when the session was setup) this means I have to batch rename all the time.
can anyone else verify if this happens?
really sloppy workflow in my opinion.

I am having this same problem. I'm doing digital archiving of historic artifacts. Often our file names refer to a catalog or accession number of the artifact. For the most part these numbers are NOT sequential within a given collection. Having the name change every time you click way from the capture tab is very problematic for my workflow.
I would appreciate any insight on fixing this bug.0 -
This can happen when the preference file is bad or cannot be written to. Repair permissions and delete the preference file: User Library > Preferences > com.phaseone.captureone.plist 0 -
is it really a bad preference file. I am a tech and i use many different computers and this problem persists in all. another bug. 0 -
got the same problem on a shooting last week.
Happy to see I'm not alone.
weird thing, it happened to me in first folder only, as it was the capture folder from the session, and the name of the pictures had to be changed.
when I had to change capture folder, never happened anymore.
I suggest someone tries to change capture folder and come back to original to see what is going on.0 -
and know what else is also really annoying? if you are going through shot folders and tagging (rating) images, then you sort that folder by rating. if you go to another shot folder (in the same session) and then go back to the folder you sorted by rating it defaults back to sorting by name. very tedious workflow. didn't happen in 3.7.9. also sometimes it takes two attempts at sorting by rating properly. i find sometimes it doesn't show all rated images at the top right away. plus software is so slow to do anything.
when is capture 5 coming out? trying our best to deal with version 4 but losing patience. no one in the NY pro photo industry likes it, that's a problem0 -

I tried this and we are still having the same problem. Any other ideas?0 -
The solution is to restart capture one. Whenever I start capture one I quit immediately and start it again. Sorts out the problem. 0
