How can I force regeneration of Pre-view for single image?
I have given up trying to work with the catalogue in Capture One so this question is strictly about working in sessions using the system folders. When working in Black & White I sometimes prefer to do Black & White conversion in SilverEfex Pro. To do this I have a Process recipe that outputs a processed version of my Raw file as a TIFF and I have "Open With" set to Silver Efex Pro, I have the output location set as the same directory that the Raw file resides. I press process and Silver Efex pro opens with the picture ready to adjust, I make suitable adjustments and press save, Silver Efex Pro closes and when I look in the directory in Capture One there is the TIFF version of the Raw file but it is still in colour ie the version before Silver Efex Pro processing. Now the only way I have found to make the Black & White version to appear is to shut down Capture One, open file explorer, delete the Capture One directory in the appropriate folder, then when I re-start Capture One the Black & White version with Silver Efex Pro edits is there in all its glory 😄 My question is can I force a regeneration of the pre-views without going through the shutdown and delete procedures? The File/Regenerate Pre-views command does not seem to do anything at all.

If I have read your workflow correctly your folder with the RAW and the colour TIFF file will also contain the B&W Tiff from Silver Efex but you won't see it without telling C1 it is there - hence you still see the RAW and the previously processed coliur version of the TIFF.
Once you have re-read the folder with C1the new file is found, or at least it should be. But you do need toget C1 to re-read the folder.
I sometime edit nmy RAW files in a different editor for comparison. That saves its edit files and previews in a single jpg file in the original folder - just like your workflow in effect. The jpg versions are readily visible so I see no reason why your TIFF files should be any different unless there is something strange about the versioning or naming of the TIFF that for some reason requires a re-start of C1. Are you returning to the file to the C1 folder with the same name as your original colour version? If so the database may not recognise it as a new file at all.
That said my personal preference would likely be to keep the file in a separate folder anyway and make that folder a favourite. (That is just an observation and not intended as a recommendation.)

Thanks for the reply. As I understand it Silver Efex Pro works on the original TIFF when you open a TIFF in it (unlike in Lightroom you don't get the opportunity in Capture One to work on a copy ). Thus when you exit Silver Efex it saves an altered version of the original TIFF and overwrites it. What I think is happening is that Capture One makes a full size Pre-View of the TIFF before opening it in Silver Efex and when Silver Efex saves its version under the same name etc. Capture One does not recognise any change and continues working on the original Pre-view. For some reason, though, the File/Regenerate Pre-views command does not do anything. For Silver Efex you can read Photoshop where the behavior is exactly the same if you flatten any layers and do a simple save.
As Silver Efex is really a plug in for Photoshop and Lightroom it always saves the processed file with the same name and location as original file - you cannot change that, however Photoshop does not have that restriction so I will try saving from photoshop with a different name.
Just processed a RAW file in Capture One set it to open in Photoshop, did a few edits and saved it with a modified file name back in the same directory and the modified file popped up instantly in Capture One.0 -
I have just noticed this issue too, I'm using catalogs. I made edits to my tiffs in Photoshop and I can't get CO to re-generate a preview. Maybe its a bug in 7.1.4 ?
I have created a case with support.0
