Media Pro Roadmap.
I am a Phase One back owner, a CO Pro user and a ex-Media Pro user. I am finding it very difficult to manage my workflow with CO7, because of the lack of a complete overview of my library of images. I have had to abandon Media Pro because of the crashes and catalog corruption. I have now had to move Lightroom 4 for catalog service and am about to move to Lightroom 5. Despite the strengths of CO Pro, the clunkiness of the workflow makes it hard to continue to use CO Pro software. The uncertainty has lead to me delaying the IQ2 upgrade and is starting to eat into my trust.
I think the many many Phase One customers deserve an update on the state of Media Pro and your plans for that program. Keeping your plans secret does not give you a competitive advantage, since you are way behind the curve anyway. I need to know that Phase One actually has a plan.

I am like you - I have abandoned Media Pro as my primary photo DAM. I am currently using Lightroom 5. As a result, I find that my use of CO/LR has switched from 80/20 to about 20/80 now. This is a result of LR improving their processing, but primarily because the workflow of LR with its catalog, develop, and ease of final editing in PS is much more efficient than MP +CO. I still use CO in a sessions mode, primarily for portraits, and in a way where MP can send a few photos to CO for editing.
I agree that PO customers deserve a plan for how they will go forward with MP. Since they still offer it for sale they imply that it will be supported. However, when you read the current marketing literature (front page) on the web, you no longer read about any close integration with the editor Capture One. That is why I (and probably others) bought MP when it first came out. PO promised that MP and CO would be closely integrated.
They have walked away from this promise.
Buried under the tab of "Imaging" it says "For advanced editing tasks, take advantage of Media Pro’s seamless workflow integration with Capture One Pro 6.2."
Since the CO Pro that I have is version 7 - I think they are telling us something.0 -
May be it is wise to avoid any too strong relation between DAM and RAW editor software?
History has proven that independent tools based on EXIF, IPTC, XMP, ... are perhaps more limited in workflow features but offer a higher flexibility when there is a need to switch one component.
I went over the last years through various phases from MP/C1 over IDI/C1 and IM/C1 finally to IM/C1+LR.
Now my workflow is purely based on XMP sidecars and I can live with the missing preview update in some image files.
By the way: IDI = Idimager, IM = Imatch and LR = Lightroom. After sudden death of IDI last year I did hope for increased opportunities for MP, but IM with thrilling v5beta took this chance. Theoretically MP still can do it, but only with continuous innovation and updates the competitors like IM and even LR can be reached.

I am waiting for the release of the IMatch 5. It could solve a lot of my issues.
