Canon 1ds Mark II users.....
I don't shoot tethered very often and have a workflow question. I have a location shoot coming up shooting dogs on dog beds. I've shot this for the last 3 years but this is the first time digitally. I shoot with a 1ds mark II. I plan on having it tethered to my powerbook for setting up and lighting the shots. I'm just learning capture 1 and plan on using it as my capture software. Then once the AD and I are happy with the set up, I plan on shooting un tethered and dowloading the cards manually. My thought is that I will be able to move around a little. Also shooting tethered just seems like it may be too slow for dogs. What do you think?

Hey,
Shooting tethered as you describe and for the situation also described, will work fine, provided that the dogs are not moving about like mad. Files get transferred into the folder (capture), quite fast depending on your Laptop type and speed. I use a Mac G4 (rented) and also, just used a newer Intel Duo-core with I think 2ghz processing speed. Set up a new session and name it, and the sw will almost take care of it self. You can even create additional folders in the capture folder to point each new shot to. All that said, shooting tethered will be great provided you understand the basic functionality and initial set up, required of the UI, to point the files to (folders). Once that is accomplished the rest should be easy. It is wrangling them dog's that should be a pain in the arse! Good luck!
