Newbie Question Coming From Lightroom
Hi. I have successfully imported my Lightroom catalog into Capture One 9. My folder/collections structure in Lightroom is now a collections structure in C1. Given the size of the C1 catalog file it appears that C1 is referencing those photos in the folder structure that already existed. So here is my question. I am about to import some photos from a memory card that are not in my Lightroom catalog and am wondering if they will referenced or become an integral part of the catalog? I am just getting going on this and want want to start off right. So far I am really liking this product and will likely purchase before the trial ends. Thanks.

During import you can choose where they go, either into the catalog or somewhere else. You can also first import into the catalog and then move the images to a referenced location. 0 -
I see. That prompts another question. Is it ok to have a mixed or hybrid environment? In this case to have the Lightroom photos referenced and then to have future imports in the catalog? 0 -

Absolutely, you can do both in the same catalog. E.g. when I import new photos go into the catalog and stay on the internal and fast SSD disk. Here I can do my first edits, keywording etc. on the laptop. Once a shoot is ready I connect the external disk that holds the referenced raw files and then move the images of a shoot into a folder on that disk (all within C1) and from that moment on they are referenced image in C1.0 -
Great. Thanks for sharing your workflow with me. That is a nice feature of the program. By the way I can't figure out how replace my long user id with my real name here. Can you point me in the right direction? 0 -
