What is "Sharpness Falloff?"

It's one of the controls in CO8, but I can't find a thing about it in the documentation nor after doing several searches online. I hardly see any difference in sharpening when I use "Sharpness Falloff," so what's it for? Thanks for you help.

  AFAIK,
  
  There is not any "perfect" lens. Optics are usually sharp in the picture centre and less in the corner. This option sharpen the pictures corner in order to correct optical issue/unsharpness.
  
  I use this with some of my wide angle lens, it does an appreciated job but no miracle.
