Does C1 support DNG?

The title says it all:

Does Capture One work with Abdobe DNG Raw files?

The new Pentax K10D will write its RAW files in DNG, and I'd like to know if C1 does support these before I buy it.

    Capture One is a RAW workflow program.
    Verision 4.0 will be the next Upgrade and will support DNG format.
    This support will be that a DNG image file can be processed from RAW image files using Capture One.

    English is not my first language, and I am not sure if I understand - for me this sounds like I can create a DNG file from a RAW file?

    The Pentax K10D (coming next month) can store its RAW data as DNG files directly in the camera, so I need to be able to process DNG files to use this camera, not to create a DNG file from RAW (since in this case the DNG *is* the RAW file).

    No ~ Capture One does not currently support DNG format.

    In a future version upgrade of Capture One, support for DNG will be supported.

    Slight correction - the Pentax K10D can write as DNG or PEF... but how this compares with the existing 6Mp versions of PEF remains to be seen.

    I too will be very keen to see C1 support for the K10D 😉

    I feel they need to implement DNG now in the current version. Why? Well for one thing I need support for X3F RAWs and other unsupported RAW formats, with DNG the cross translations would be possible and I wouldn't have to keep bothering C1 to implement X3F. And my other reason is that we don't know when 4.0 will come out, it could be tomorrow or 3 years.

    I wish all RAWs would be DNG from all makers of cameras. Would make everybodys life easier IMO. So what if it is an Abobe format.

    DNG Support will not come before version 4.0

    The LE version 4.0 will be ready the beginning of 2007 and the PRO version targeted for an end of 2Q 2007 Release.

    Er, Tim, I make it:
    Q1 = Jan-Mar
    Q2 = Apr-Jun
    Q3 = Jul-Sept
    Q4 = Oct-Dec

    So "end of Q2" is around June.

    That's not such good news for me - the K10D is due out mid-October (they say), so I wonder if P1 will support the K10D PEF format before C1LE v4 is released? It would be a real shame to get the K10D and have to start using Adobe Camera Raw again... 🙄

    I was going off the fiscal year, which starts Oct 1 (which most businesses use).

    Q1 Oct - Dec
    Q2 Jan - Mar
    Q3 Apr - Jun
    Q4 Jul - Sep

    Who ever came up with a fiscal year different than a callender year needs to be poked in the eye.

    Either way, we have to wait at least six to nine months for DNG support.

    But Capture one supports Leice DMR and M8, which have DNG native raw format. Then it should support (open) also other DNG files, not only from these cameras.
    Or I am wrong?!

    Yep, you're right.

    Well, when I get my K10D and C1 does not support the raw files I'll switch to something else, probably SilkyPix, they already support DNG and are quite fast on new raw file formats.

    But first the k10d has got to arrive 😉

    I can wait...barely. Most of my digital negatives are in DNG now, but I have Photoshop CS2 for that.
