Output To PS Loses Sharpness & Clarity
Hello -
I'd be so grateful for some help with an output question.
My images (RAW files) when exported into Photoshop CC 14 don't appear as they do in Capture One Pro 9.0.3.5. Specifically, they appear to lose both sharpness and clarity. My recipe settings are PSD, Adobe RGB, 16 bit, 300 pixels/in, fixed scale, and the 'disable sharpening' box in adjustments is unselected. I'd be so grateful for help. I love Capture One but I need to address this.
Cheers!
Chris

So I've discovered this has something to do with the bit rate. When I changed the output recipe from 16bits to 8bits the image opens up much, much sharper in Photoshop. Why is that? Does that mean you can't work in 16bit when exporting from Capture One?
Please help.
Thank you,

I can't offer a solution. I'm just writing this because I use 16bit AdobeRGB tiff export into PS all the time without having that problem.
Reading about it, I've tried exporting 8bit and 16bit tiff and psd versions of an image into PS. Zoomed in in PS, I cannot see any difference in sharpness toggling back and forth between those 4 images.

Well, let's start by updating to a newer version 😐 ❓0 -
Be sure to judge sharpness and color across platforms at the zoom corresponding to your output (in your case, 100% zoom for 100% output scale) as at lower zoom levels (or fit-to-view) there is some blending going on to fit it in the viewer. 0
