Preview Image Pixelation

I'm having an issue, while adjusting photos the images become pixelated and won't load or let me make any further adjustments. I get the spinning wheel at the top of the window and have to force quit the program. Once I relaunch, it's fine for a bit then does it again. This happens while shooting tethered but also while just editing. Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated!

  I've got the same problem on ver. 7.1.3 Mac too....
  even regenerate preview manually doesn't help.

  Sounds as though OpenCL is not supported on your systems.
  Please change the "Hardware Acceleration" feature in preferences to "Never" and restart the software.
